Has anybody installed the switch into the graflex ASP yet? There are ZERO instructions on how to do this. I tried to get the switch with quick connect through the hole in the switch housing and it is so deep that the quick connect can't make the turn. I actually broke the quick connect off the switch trying to get it through the hole.

Even if I got the switch through the hole, the switch sits below the metal of the housing so the "bubble" slide in section that you push to activate the switch isn't even touching the switch face. And even if the bubble slide in was touching the switch it doesn't stay in place, it will just slide out. Incredibly confused and frustrated.

I already emailed customer service about getting a new switch. But I really need to be enlightened on how to install the switch section. And it needs to be specific to the graflex ASP. I've seen YouTube videos of switch installs into other housings and it looks easy. Been trying to figure it out for two hours.

Did you ask customer service when you emailed about the switch. I have yet to actually see an ASP graflex switch that wasn't an empty tier. Would it be possible to glue the slide to the activation part of the switch to hold it in place and on the switch? That's my only guess as we have to glue in our own extra dummy buttons too.

Ya I asked how to do it in the email too. Gluing wouldn't work because the slide in piece can't even touch the switch face becausethe switch sits below the surface when it place.

That's weird. Shameem chose the Graflex for one of his ASP hilts (warrior tier), and it had the switch already installed in it (he ended up getting an extra switch in his electronics kit because of this):

Ya I saw that video and was disappointed mine wasn't the same. Hopefully it was just a mistake.

Here's a short video of what happened that I sent to customer service to help me figure this out. Maybe somebody else with a graflex ASP can help me realize what to do?

Nothing but problems. Their solution for the switch install doesn't work. Not even close. I'm going to have to come up with my own solution. Glad I paid for that.

Also the screw that holds the ring in the graflex emitter that holds the blade is WAY too short. There is about half a thread on the screw that holds it all together. One swing of the blade will pop the screw out and the ring and blade all come out.

Crazy frustrating experiencing. Very much regretting my purchase.

Isn't that switch broken? Shouldn't the micro dean be attached to it already?

Yes it is broken. They sent me a replacement. I got the switch in finally but the switch is flush with the housing. They told me to glue an o ring to the top of the switch to add height so it will depress. The supplied o ring doesn't make it tall enough still to depress it with the bubble strip you place on top. I would love to see a pre built graflex switch to see what they do. I'm still just guessing at this point.

Wouldn't matter if I got the switch working because of all the other problems.

Bummer. Not sure how best to proceed. I avoid box switches like the plague.

I can see why :) I'll update again when I know what I'm going to do. Blade holder is actually the biggest problem now. No way I can rig that one unless I can find a longer screw.

That shouldn't be too big of an issue, a trip to Lowes or any large hardware store should be able to net you a 8-32 x 1/8" Set screw. If you find one and it's too long some gentle sanding should do the trick.
I'll update again when I know what I'm going to do.
After reading the thread and considering what I'm going to do w/my graflex switch that I have coming I think I going to install a switch and a recharge port and rig the card to slide in and out and keep it as a design accent. Also thinking about getting a ESB/TFA card to replace the metal stock card.

I did find an 8-32 socket screw at a hardware store. The one saber forge gave me was 1/4" but it needed a 3/8". Again this was for the ring that holds the blade in the emitter.

I'd love to see what other people have done for the graflex switch.

H2soy: I was also thinking of upgrading the card. Any ideas on where to get one?

Graflex parts are a bit hard to come by at the moment. The Custom Saber Shop is out of a lot. I can't vouch for them yet but I bought a TFA clamp card from a company in Denmark called Wannawanga that I've heard some good things about. They also sell replica bubble cards if you want to stick with a ANH look.

Thanks for this thread, Drej. So have you now managed to successfully install the ASP Graflex? How did you manage to slide the "L" switch into the activation box and issues with the blade retention screw?
