I emailed customer service about a week ago and haven't received a reply with questions about the new ASP PnP SaberCore 3.0 board.
https://saberforge.com/collections/plug-play-electronics/products/champsled Looking at the picture it is unclear to me if it comes with a switch or if one needs to be purchased separately? If so, the current PnP light-up switches appear to be 4 prong (and say they are compatible with Champion 2.0 boards). Based on the picture below I see the a wire for the LED and switch appear to be micro-deans, how does one make this work? Does anyone have knowledge about the switch setup for this new board? The micro deans is for the LED. The JST connector for the switch is just laying under the other wires in the photo.
And yes, you do need to purchase the momentary switch (and LED) separately - the Champion kit is just board, battery, speaker, and [now] USB port. |

Yes. Those are actually the "default" switches for the Champion tier. If you were ordering a fully installed Champion saber from the non-ASP section(s) of the store, by default you would get an illuminated AV switch that matches your blade color (you can specify otherwise in the order notes). |

My SaberCore 3.0 came in yesterday and I swapped out my 1.0 board and switch. I fired up the SaberCore Editor GUI and everything seems to be working perfectly!
Does anyone have any tips for settings that they prefer? It looks like swing and clash sensitivity were set by default to about 67% and volume looks like its default is about 90%. Does anyone have an estimate of how much play time you can expect on a single charge? Thank you for your help! |

I have not seen an actual manual, but there are two demo videos which show how to use the config utility pretty thoroughly. They are both in the "Store and Forum News" section. If you can't find them, let me know.

Brax what happened to the other post from yesterday about the SaberCore 3.0 where you posted the links to the two videos?
I believe it was in the Open Topics section and started by WyvernClaw, he was having issues with his sound fonts. |

I can repost them here. I would have done it earlier, but I was working from an iPad, and it is a royal pain to do that kind of thing. Now that I am on my home PC, much easier.

I heard some things from Phil and a link he posted for me to download what was possibly a proper version of the Sabercore Editor program for my PC, and it was gone soon after that and I didn't even get the chance to check the link he sent me. Not sure if he deleted the thread or why he (or anyone else) would have but I'm a bit confused. Both Phil himself and the CS team I've been in touch with at Etsy have been amazing in helping me out so far, really strikes me as odd that the thread vanished. |

I kicked the dog out of the house and finally hooked up my saber to the PC. I have to say, my SaberCore 3.0 worked perfectly and I think I will be fine tuning the settings for some time to come. I found everything quite intuitive, but would appreciate some explanations of things like how to interpret the accelerometer and gyro graphs.
In general I've found that I like clash set between 70-75%, and swing / spin set around 60%. I can't say I fully understand the difference between swing and spin, as it doesn't seem to be merely rotation about the axis of the saber. |

I can't speak to how the SaberCore3 board does it (since there's no manual for it), but on the CF8 "A spin detection is engaged after the hilt has gone in continuous rotation long enough". The spin sound files are made to sound a bit more "natural" than just multiple swing sounds chaining off of each other. |

That makes sense, thank you! Now I would like to see some more sound fonts available!
I ordered an additional font and got a download link from SaberForge sales, but unfortunately the link only lead to a single .mp3 (prodigalSample.mp3) instead of the series of files I think is required for operation. I emailed customer service last week and am waiting to hear back. ** Update ** Got a new download link with a .zip full of files for Prodigal Son, can't wait to upload them. Out of the three Dark Side fonts (Ruiner, Dark Side Relic, and Ominous), I'm wondering which people tend to prefer? |

I finally had some time to play around with my 3.0 saber this weekend. The motion controls and sensing are light years better than the old 1.0 board it replaces, I am really digging it.
