TOPIC: To order or not to order, that's the... Help !!

Ok, so, since I'm going mad waiting for my first SF saber ever, I was intensively thinking about the second saber I'd like to build and have after the first one (I always felt I was drawn to the "two sabers" family). After that, the virtual saber builder went down, I so I thought : "Ok, no choice but to wait for it to come back up, maybe I'll be able to rest my mind for a bit...". I already had my concept in mind, but I was of course willing to wait to test it out some more in the VSB, make sure every part was the right one, etc.

And then it was the March sale.

At first I tried to not think about it very much, and then "just to see", I wanted to know how much my concept saber would cost me (in a Champion tier), and with the shipping, it would be almost be 600 dollars, which means that I'd get a nice 60 dollars off, plus 4 covertech knobs, a t shirt and a shoto initiate saber...

I'm really lost here, do I go ahead with my order to make use of the March sale ? Do I wait a bit more to 1) get my first saber before ordering a second one (noting maybe "in hand" what I'd like different/identical), 2) have more ASP parts to choose from 3) being able to really test it out in the VSB so I'm really sure of my choice ?

The hesitation is killing me, help please ! What would you do ? Is the March sale that important ? Is waiting really worth it ?

Help... ! Plus I have only 4 days to decide...



P.s : If it helps, here's my idea for the saber : Avenger emitter ; Gladius switch section ; Reliant body (with medium green leather) and a yet undermined pommel. The idea is to get it all in standard finish, but playing on the black parts on the saber to have a nice black/green duality with a green LED.

wait for Nov and maybe the 20 percent off sale will come again like last year and in the mean time, build your electronics for it so it's ready.

Think about it this way.

1. As soon as lead times go back down, there will be more sales periodically throughout the year, ranging from 10-15% off plus add-ons. You won't have to necessarily wait until Black Friday. In fact, it's more than likely that there will be a May the Fourth sale.

2. The next time the builder goes live, it should have all additional parts presented over the past few months. Something may change your mind, pique your interest.

3. If you wait, you can learn how to solder and learn to do installs yourself in the meantime. That way, you'll save a little money and learn some useful skills.

I am forced to wait for the next sale and I would recommend you to do the same. You could redesign your saber on saberparts with the new ASP parts rolling out, you may have had your first on in hand etc

Im ordering an asp that i already have in mind when the sale is right. Its gonna be a lightsaber that was built from yunkyard parts. In tje meantime i will be making another NBv4 electronics build for it and this time im going to see how cheap I can do it for. I need the board and a led heatsink n spesker so theres not much i can do there but this time i wanna get a rgb led thats not expensive like the last build which was around 40 dollars with the shipping cause it had the resisters built in so imma gonna solder my own in just not sure how to do it yet. Im thinking i ahoukd be able to get all the parts for around 100 dollars this time around since i already have light up switches and charge ports i got fpr like 2 dollars each from placea like gearbeat and banggood. Where can i get aome good 4 wire quick disconnect things?

I'm waiting for the new builder with the new parts before compiling an ASP lightsaber. I have an idea or two in mind with current available parts ... but those new curved hilts really open creativity up.

I can only imagine how hard it is to wait...
I would like to design curved sabers but we have to wait a bit longer for that.

I actually used GIMP which is a freeware photo editing package I use on all my saber designs and graphics, but doing this does help to get your brain thinking along curved lines!

The saber was originally an ASP rendition of the Rebel if you couldn't tell.

Thanks for the recommendation but that's still a big outlay per month for my level of income, and GIMP does everything I need so far, coupled with LibreOffice I can run my other online activities. (Plus these packages are regularly bug checked, updated and don't Brick)

So before this thread get taken too far off topic I think the OP was about when the best time to order is and the new wave of ASP parts.

I think 50$ is a bit too much for a lot of people. I don't understand why companies switch to the subscription model... It puts people off.
