It's a free saber after all and no one has paid any money to be part of the contest... you just invest a bit of time to make a lightsaber and post a picture.

Well I don't know that, but it seems the most likely guess.

Maybe they'll print off all the saber pictures, shuffle them in a hat, throw the entire batch into the air and then have a contest to cross the room without stepping on a picture. First one to be stepped on is the winner

I browsed a decent portion (not all, there were over 900!) and there were some great designs. Not sure if I'll come out on top anymore hahaha. I do not envy them having to try to pick one out of so many designs.

In my opinion, which doesn't matter, only about 75 to 100 worthy candidates. As for announcing a winner, I couldn't say.

what exactly qualifies as worthy though? I mean, I saw some double sabers in there which I think were going to get disqualified since it was supposed to be a single bladed one. Quite a few duplicated an existing design, particularly the Graflex and the Exhalted.

I saw a lot that I figured had a pretty good chance to be possiblities. Going to be interesting seeing which one they choose out of the whole pile.
