They will not come preassembled, that's one thing that SF has been pretty upfront about. They will include spacers (little metal washer type things) to help align the components (if you want them aligned a certain way).

I agree, assembly will be half the fun.

It looked pretty straight forward, and requires no glue, solder, or electronic expertise. Add to that, you will feel a little more like a real Jedi by assembling your own saber, albeit by hand rather than with The Force.
