Phil indicated that he would be taking some pictures, and using editing software to get the shade to something that does it justice. As it is, you can see my Dark Fallen review for pictures of it, but you have to take into account that what the eye sees (especially with bright Red colors), and what most cameras can capture differ greatly. I did supply a comparison shot between this LED, and the regular Red, so you can see there is a difference. But, it still appears quite pink. |

Well this is exciting, guess it wasn't scheduled for release in October after all.  The options are there (for the few I checked on Etsy) when selecting Blade Colour on the dropdown Menus when on a specific Hilt's Listing but it isn't available when selecting just the LED Module. Have sent a query and will Post the reply once received.EDIT:  I forgot ze pectures. |

When I look at a saber on Etsy, and do the drop down for color, Medium and Deep Red are there.

Just received and compared the 12W+ Deep Red LED to the classic 12W+ Red. I'm not sure I could capture the difference in a photo at the moment, but in person the difference is so striking that I can't not see the classic red as a shade of orange anymore. The new LED has an almost consistent, solid red color for the length of my 27" blades... it's actually a bit unsettling. I think there's a small sacrifice in brightness, but overall if you want a nice, pure red you should be satisfied.
I'd like to see how it looks in a red day blade now.

I think Melissa's going off pictures of the LEDs, rather than having any first-hand experience.
Deep Red is definitely the True Red out of the two. (It photographs with a bit of magenta, making it look pink in pictures - but a Deep Blue does the same thing and looks purple in pics - and no one should order a Deep Blue and expect a purple saber) I mean, if you're more interested in Red showing up proper on-camera, sure, grab a Medium or Red, but Deep Red is definitely the way to go for that in-person wow factor. It really does make any other Red LED looks straight orange. |
