This thread is a tribute to our favorite ships in Sci/fi. with a focus on SW and possible style influences on other shows and movies.

My favorite Fighter in any Sci/fi was the StarFury in Babylon 5. I still think someone sat and combined the TIE and X-wing to make it. Honestly it easily could've taken the place of the "new" X-wing in TFA.

I don't know,if you're trying to be funny or you're just a jerk
Let's say ill-fated attempt at humor and move one.

I appreciate capital ships with maritime influences:

and have an immense affection for snub-nosed fighters:

I like the general aesthetic of most Star Trek ships and my first love was the Oberth class:

Reminds me of the Starviper:

Babylon 5 was one of the few space operas where space "actually made sense." That is space was treated like it actually had a z-axis and ships didn't go at each other on a two dimensional plane.
Macross-1 is the best capital ship one word giant robot
Gotta love the excesses of anime:

If the rebels had Macross 1 with it's charged particle cannons and yomato and its wave motion cannon the death star wouldn't of been an issue

Yup, SDF-1. Problem is that's an oversized aircraft carrier with some technical issues :P Death star cannon was a wee bit bigger :P

If we're going transforming fighters, I do love me some VF-1J, but Vandread was pretty awesome too.

What about the Tie Phantom? I'd drive it.

That's not nearly excessive enough! We must go bigger! How about so big they stand on the Milky Way to battle?

Oh, not big enough? Okay.

As before, this subject seemed to bring up some issues between a couple of our members. I am not as interested in the "why", as much as the fact that it has happened twice now. Let's keep things in a discussion mode, or this one will be locked as well.

I hope that is not the case, as I have some contributions I would make to the subject, but if it continues to be this incendiary, it will be closed.

Let's keep things fun, informative, humorous (the light-hearted kind), and entertaining. That is why we come here, after all.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Oh damn, almost forgot the Normandy!

I feel like it was inspired by the Enterprise if it's primary purpose was militaristic. Remove the comfy, fancy bridge in exchange for a more practical and distributed approach. Make it a stealth ship rather than an almost ambassadorial one and chuck the huge engines. Don't forget to replace Dilithium Crystals with Eezo!
