You broke a wire that easily? I'm assuming you didn't man handle it out of there like a gorilla or something...or maybe you did? I would feel better if you did.

This doesn't give me good feelings about the quality.

Edit: I for one do NOT have a friend with soldering skills and I certainly wouldn't expect or accept my product to up and break like that on the first day with almost zero use whatsoever. Maybe you could explain a bit more clearly how you actually broke the wire? This is really a red flag and I'd like to hear something that would hopefully make this not quite as bad as it sounds.

I think I bent up a wire too much when initially trying to cram stuff in, and kinked it around until the wire snapped when taking it back out. The wiring isn't the problem - I was. :)

Great Review BZArcher. An exceptional reward you have there too. Always handy to have tech support on speed dial. Well done and finely chosen.

Thanks for the great review and sorry to hear about your issues. They all seem resolvable so that's good.

I love that switch section And emitter.

Hope everything gets resolved quickly so you can enjoy it to the fullest.

Is the body section based on anything from a star wars property (canon or otherwise)? Out of the five or six ASP hilts I've seen, four of them have had this part, and two have been paired up with the gladius switch section. I'm starting to think it isn't just random coincidence, that it must be based on something that I'm unfamiliar with.

Not consciously? I was just looking for a grip that I felt matched the switch and emitter, and since (at the time) most of my hilts had a leather wrap, I wanted to get one with an all metal grip.

I think that's just the magic of a well designed part- everyone wants it. I remember lingering on it for a while in the builder before I moved on to my final hilt design.

fair enuugh. since seeing it on so many ASP hilts this past week or so, I too have considered getting a hilt based around the part honestly.

If I need the skills you needed to put it all toguether, I'm in trouble.
Since I have never owned a saber, I have no idea how it works, inside or outside.

If SF do something wrong with my ASP I'll end up thinking that's the problem was my lack of skills and knowlege.

And Congrats! It looks amazing!
Great review!

Honestly, it's pretty straightforward and simple. Separating or joining sections of the hilt is as simple as screwing and unscrewing. The quick connects just plug together. Seating the LED and screwing it's retention screw in is very easy - especially if you leave the blade plug in to provide a "stop" for the LED.

Just take your time and go slow!

Just to follow on, the Forge confirmed there was a "whoops" with my blade and switch, and the replacements are on the way!

So, like I mentioned, the new switch from the Forge is on the way, but in the meantime I took care of that wire - check this thing out with a fully charged battery!

My eyes!! Just kiddin, looks great and good to hear that the switch is on the way. Did they hook you up with a lit AV switch for the apparent mix-up?

Far as I know it will be a standard stunt switch, but that's fine. I'm just happy things are right about where they need to be. :)

I'd initially put that body on my build, as well. But I changed my mind about two weeks before ASPs started going out and asked them to change it to a Fury body instead.

Not entirely sure which one I'm actually going to get at this point, and don't really care. Either one will be fine by me.

Awesome looking saber! Good to see some are starting to roll in. Even if mine is still a ways away. I didn't back until December! We chose the same emitter though. You have good taste sir.
