16 years doing drafting and design it was easy to take the measurements and 3D model it
:P You do something long enough repeatedly and it just comes easy. There is still credit deserved with that application as it creates an unparalleled high attention to detail. I work alongside Architects through my work and always marvel at the 'plans' that are created that are ultimately passed along to a builder to realise the accurate scale of the end result.
That hammered-finish would be intense to perform on such small parts right? however I imagine it to add a nice textural contrast to the overall aesthetic. You see, another example of attention to detail. ;)

Thanks my attention to detail is the strongest skill that has gotten me to where I am today. I will only hammer finish the top of the parts and probably do that before I start machining it. That way I have a larger price to work with. I've never attempted a hammer finish before but brass is fairly soft and I have a assortment of hammers to use, so I'll see how it turns out.

ALIGNMENT UPDATE
Okay so I wasn't completely satisfied with the shim alignment so I took it to work and chucked it in the lathe to get it exact.

Emitter to Switch

Pommel to Body

Ran out of time so I'll have to do the Body to Switch when we get back from July 4th week shutdown.

After I get it aligned I'll sand to even out part to part and lighten up the weathering some. Then glue and stitch tight my suede inserts.

New DSE Razor Blade Plug
I ordered the all brass version to go with all the brass accents I have or plan to add. It came in the other day and I'm really happy with the appearance in the hilt.

My collection of plugs so far.

The new plug as received.

Some weathering to match the rest of the brass I'm doing. Coated it, cleaned it, and scuffed it with some 2000 grit wet dry sand paper.

The finished result.

I'm really happy with how this is turning out!
:cheer:
