Hello there everyone!

So after buying my first lightsaber ever, and deciding to go to the Star Wars Celebration I realize that I had to wear something cool for the convention.

So months ago I came with this idea:

But since I have ZERO tailoring skills and not enough time to learn, I looked for help and hired a tailor.
She was struggling to understand the top part so I changed a bit and now my costume is looking like that:

I'm very happy with the result so far. But still need some kind of boots or anything for my feet. And I'm also planning to wrap some fabric around my forearms and, with time, I'll look for some leather pouches to hang in my belt.

What you guys think? Suggestions?

Cheers!

It's coming together rather nicely Blircos. Granted the design elements deviated slightly from your original concept draft, IMO the teased ruggedness quality adds great dramatic effect steering away from the more formal vision in your original concept. The Tailors interpretation was well executed. I can't offer anything in way of suggestions as I don't have any experience with Cosplay however consistent to a recent visit to a Mysterious Island of Enchantment, the outfit has reminiscent influences. ;) Your intention with applying the loosely bound forearm wraps may compliment the outfit rather well.

Very nice. Really digging that "half-hooded" look you've got going.

Almost done I believe!

I still need to hide my shoes better while I don't have a nice pair of boots, and I'll also want to try to make a pouch with a better fabric or leather.

i think the forearm wraps went really well. It helps with the feel of a nomad jedi.

That is great! I love your hood. It's hard to get them to frame you face correctly without looking either droopy or more "elfish" for lack of a better term. My wife wanted to take a crack at making one. We just weren't sure where to start. It definitely looks too nice to be your first pass at cosplay. :-)

Thank you!

And yes, I'm still experimenting with the hood. Each time I wear it, it looked different haha.
Maybe a few stiches here and there will do the trick but I don't know if I'll bother. I'm happy with it.

In the future I might try to make another one with another kind of fabric to look more worn out.
My costume is looking too clean hehe

I want to say I read somewhere you can insert a wire into the hood and will hold its shape around the opening. Not sure how that would look with the hood on your back but not a bad idea.

Coming along really nicely! I love it when people come up with unique designs that still say 'I'm a jedi.' Definitely picking up the nomad feel.

Oh and one idea for boots without breaking the bank: pick up some cheap black shoes a $5 set of cosplay boot covers. Looks decent, and works fairly good to stitch the covers onto the boot for a slightly more realistic look.

Edit: here's a link to a boot cover DIY http://www.mjtrends.com/blog/2015/11/cosplay-boot-covers-tutorial/

This ^^. Seems sound, similar principle to the underwire of a woman's bra, reverse application.
Not sure how that would look with the hood on your back but not a bad idea.
When open behind your head, the unsupported parts of the material collapsing under the rigid frame much like an open soft-top convertible.

The costume is fantastic, but beyond that, you embody the "look" of a Jedi who has been besieged, forlorn and alone for a long time. Hopefully, for a cosplayer, that comes as high praise, as that is how it was intended.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Best praise someone gave me. Thank you so much. :)
I was really trying to achieve something like this.
I'm so happy with it. Since I had to pay for a tailor to make it, I was afraid it wouldn't look cool in the end. And there was this moment that wasn't looking that great so I did a few changes and everything went well. I'm so happy.
I'm 33 years old and this is my first cosplay ever! Hehe
Never thought I would do something like that even thou I always liked cosplays. But after working as an extra in TV shows, buying my saber and the tickets for the star wars celebration I just got obsessed with the idea of having my Jedi costume. And now I do :)

Simply awesome! Now I want to make up a dark Jedi costume. I don't cosplay but I figure that I can have fun during my friend's Halloween party and maybe be dressed up when episode VIII is released.
