I stop reading this topic for 2 days and people are getting married... What the hell on earth is going on here?

I'll probably try to make a mask for myself using all what you gave us Takamatsu! Thank you very much for that, it's awesome!

What resin did you use? And how did you make that center piece above the eyes?

The resin I used was "polyester resin" from ebay.
That part of the detail was cut from some foam board (sintra) and heated slightly so that it would curve around the mask.

When choosing your resin consider the hazards involved, fumes etc, work with relevant safety equipment (Glasses/goggles, filter mask, gloves etc). Also look into the safer alternatives such as Jesmonite or Aquaresin. (I've recently used Jesmonite and found it much nicer to use although slightly more brittle and "stone-like" than the plasticky polyester.

Thanks man, I actually started working on it last night. Excited to see how it works out.

So far I've made the top part of the mask. I might have made it a bit too thin. It's a bit flimsy. It's not entirely dry yet though, so I'll have to see (it's been ~8 hours, is that normal?).

I've also printed the template onto some thick paper and cut it out. I'll have to find some cardboard to trace in on.

I'm picking up some stuff tonight (hot glue gun, paint, resin, etc) so i can keep working on it.

Paper Mache should set quite stiff, I'd imagine at 8 hours it should be almost dry - I usually leave it overnight to dry. How many layers of paper did you end up doing? I think when I built mine I ended up doing 8-10 layers over two nights. So long as it is strong enough to hold its shape then you should be okay, the resin will give it real strength anyway.

If it's still wet then perhaps the glue mixture was a bit thin/watery? Also if you do lots and lots of layers of paper then it can take quite a while to dry out as the paper holds the moisture.

I'm sure it will dry out and will work out fine.

Yea I went to school and elt it dry. When I came back it was perfect. Light, but still hard, and made a nice sound when I raped it with my fist. Now working on the bottom portion of the mask.

A progress pic:
The mask isn't as narrow as I'd like on the cheeks, but other than that, it's not bad! I have two coats of resin on there and the grey primer + matte black paint. Going to add filligree next.
