I was checking out those Tabi boots for a bit now before I seen this thread.
Not sure I can justify 400 beans + shipping to Canada for some boots I'd only use for a costume. At least you wear them all the time =)

Are they THAT comfortable??

I would definitely not recommend spending that kind of money on a pair of tabi you aren't going to wear all the time.

They are however, really really awesome. As well as being custom fit to my feet (you send in detailed measurements, color choices, etc), they are comfortable (think like barefoot Merrells, or Five Fingers), and they look awesome. Head turners for sure. If you were going to wear them as everyday shoes as well as for your costume, I'd say you couldn't find better custom fit Tabi unless you went directly to a cobbler in Japan. :)

Hi Aletani,

I wish my photos would turn out this well!

We haven't "spoken" to each other before so may I say it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I have seen your pics elsewhere in Google searches and some of your earlier posts, so I did know of you but this was the first time I caught up with you online.

Kind regards

For Tyeth

(p.s. I posted to the Saber Selfie thread like you asked, but the pics are a bit scary!)

That's an excellent cosplay! Can I ask how long it took to put it all together? Also, do you use robes at all?

Hehe, nice to meet you. ^_^ I'm more active on my own facebook page Aletani Acklay if you care to check it out. ^_^ Just figured I would update my threads here. :)

Saber Selfies are supposed to be scary if you're a sith, if you're a jedi... maybe work on it? lol ;)

Borommakot

Thanks!!! ^_^

Since this was my first hand made outfit, it took about 50 hours to put together all told. I didn't make robes for this, since I already had a simple black cloak that worked well. I may make one for the future. :) I hope to start selling cheap outer robes here soon (that will be up on my facebook page, link above) if you care to keep up with that.

My Jedi cosplay, the thread you have commented on as well - I have not calculated how long it's taken to complete, but my guess would be around 30 hrs or a little less all told. :) I just picked up a serger this Christmas, for myself, so that'll cut down on time and increase quality on my seams. ^_^

Excellent. Thanks for that. A little perspective goes a long way. This is going to be my first hand made outfit, too.

it's a lot of hard work, but it really pays off: you get more experience building what you're picturing in your head, and you have an outfit tailored to you that costs less money overall than paying someone labor to build it for you. :) good luck!
