Alrighry. So I got my quick ship Disciple in today, and have a few points and pictures for it I'd like to go over. First up, a picture!

So, as you can see the hilt itself is, as usual, beautiful and well crafted, intricate detail and just overall amazing looking. It's what we've come to expect and crave from Saberforge and man do they deliver. So, a couple points, because people keep thinking it's just an Acolyte with a wrap... yes and no. The body design is the same but there are some differences which j would call design improvements. For example, the pommel is just a touch different in shape. Makes it Seem and look a little more streamlined on the back end.

And the choke point for the grip actually has angled edges which increase the comfort of the grip. My old Acolytes didn't have these to this degree, and I love it on the Disciple.

Lastly, the body section is soooo much more comfortable to handle and still has the amazing thinness and durability that the Acolyte had. Not that the Acolyte is bad in any way, because I still love it as well, but that leather grip is just spectacular.

Now! For a couple pictures of it all lit up for you!

Alright. So final conclusion:

Total rating: 10
Comfortatability: 10
Ease of use: 10
Aesthetics: 10
Solidity (no wobbling blade, no loose parts): 10

Perfect score. Love this saber and now know I made the right decision in switching my staff from Acolytes to Disciples.

is it possible to get a good pic of you holding the hilt near the grip? I'm torn between this and the acolyte, and I'm still unsure of how long the wrapped grip section is. I don't know why it matters really. It just feels like if the wrapped section isn't as long as my closed fist that it's pointless, thus pushing me towards the acolyte instead.

anyway, if you could post a pic showing the hand to wrap ratio, that would be amazing!

Here's the pic you asked for, but keep in mind a couple of things: I'm not a small person and I have large hands, and the saber becomes very front heavy when holding it that far down.. it's not an ideal hand grip because of the covertech and poor balance.

I find it far easier to hold the saber around the choke point, and if needed can place my second hand low around around the grip and pommel and it's very comfortable that way.

They're both amazing. The acolyte has a touch less customization because there are so many choices for wrap style and color however... but my best advice would be to go with the saber that speaks to you, lol. Whichever one jumps out more.

I have to admit to being won over by the Apprentice sabers! I think at some point, one or two of them will be a must have in my collection.\

Thanks for the review!

I prefer the Disciple over the Acolyte but it kinda looks like they just replaced the bottom section with a leather wrap.
Sabers:
-Prodigal Son (Champ 12w Green)
-Consular Staff (12w Yellow {Ordering Soon})
-Sorcerer Staff (12w Deep Blue During Standard-Release)

From what I understand, the Disciple is actually a little different - the grip is lathed in deeper to accommodate the wrap.

Thanks for the review. My Disciple gets shipped tomorrow and I'm fast running out of video reviews and unboxing videos to keep myself occupied til it gets here. This saber looks great, can't wait to finally have mine in my hands :)

OK, and it should be ok for heavy dueling?

I live in Rochester, NY; so finding a partner is a bit difficult as Rochester is a smaller city than like... NYC. >.

Ha! Me too, but it'll be a long time until I get my saber. I'm just lurking here in the meantime.
