i am using different grades of pipe cleaner, aluminum sand paper, and steal wool to take the weathering off and polish a little. i honestly couldn't tell you which grit it was or brand because i have since thrown them out. sorry bud! |

Following the lead of Luno-Jay, I have started taking off some weathering. I have come this far using 320, 600, then 1000 silicon carbide sanding film. Still work to do on just those 2 rings, but they're getting shiny. It's not a fast process. 
The left one is being worked on, right is untouched from the factory. |

Deliberately going slow with the finer grits in hopes I can attain a nice mirror finish. Still some deep scratches in some spots and will probably have to go back and work through the various grades of sanding again, just to work those out. I've already got a better finish than comes from SF... so yeah, I'm being picky lol

hey does any one know wht it looks like if u get it with out grip wrap or is it just an Acolyte and could some one take a clear pic of battery pack i should be getting mine before the 17 of june cant wait (disiple 12wat yellow) ordered from etsy

The grip section is machine down so the wrap doesn't bulge out. So it doesn't look like an acolyte under the wrap.

thanks Hagman!, i have since taken some of the weathering off to give it a more "relic" look.
and to answer an earlier question.. underneath is the machined down aluminum that the saber is made of, clean silver color, inlaid in more so the wrap fits correctly. but it does not look like the acolyte ( well i guess it kinda does but its literally just metal under there) hope this helped! |

very very happy you enjoyed it GreyFox, you defiantly made a great choice…this is a really really awesome hilt. Glad that this helped reinforce your decision and get you a little more excited for yours.
Also, if you need any help with the MODS don't be afraid to ask, I've done some custom work on a few of my sabers now, and have seen a lot of DIY from others who have work on theirs, and would be happy to help. i know it seems tricky, and it can be the more detailed you go, but really its all about being prepared and knowledgable, and then just going for it. good luck! |
