Hey All,

My first post. I will be buying a saber soon, just had a question I was hoping one of you could answer?

I am looking at a warrior grade, I don't really need/want sound. The description for the battery and charging is different. I am willing to upgrade if the battery is better, or the light is brighter. If it is just in hilt charging and sound, then I am good with warrior. Leaves me enough money for two sabers!

Warrior:
12w version runs on NCR18650B (battery and charger included). ***Googling that battery returns "NCR18650B 3.7V 3400mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Flat Top for Panasonic"

Champion:
Includes 3400mah in hilt recharge upgrade, with smart charger, and kill key.

Are they the same batteries?

Thanks for help!

Yes, but the charging method is different. Champions come with in hilt recharge.. you just plug the saber in and it charges. Warrior, you have to take the pommel off and pull out the battery pack, take out the battery, and put it on a charger that plugs in. Both types of chargers come with their respective saber tier. :)

I wish they offered a hilt recharging upgrade for the Warrior level, I'm ambivalent about the sound as well.

Thanks for the info Knytiri!

Technically, a champion would be a tiny fraction dimmer than a warrior, not brighter. But with a champion, you get in-hilt recharge, blade flicker/shimmer, sound and the illuminated switch.

If you really want in-hilt recharge on a warrior, you could always add it yourself.

Wait! Flickering only comes on Champion and above? That is a deal breaker for Warrior. That is one of my favourite features.

Yep, only on champions, because it's actually a feature of the soundboard, which the LED is wired through. It gives the option to have more control over the LED than just a standard on/off switch. There are some DIY boards that don't have sound, that offer advanced LED controls as well, but off the top of my head I don't know any smiths that sell ready-made sabers with this hardware, or even where to look for one of these boards.. though, TCSS might be a good place to start looking for one. There is, of course, the option of always muting the sound on the champion sabers, and just turning it on for kicks and giggles whenever the fancy strikes. :)

Do the current boards have a sound mute? My Novasound has 2 level volume control but no total mute. More than once I have considered installing a switch on the speaker wire to just kill it.

Yeah. The sabercore viridium and crimson (champion) both have a mute option, and the spark (hero) you can install a muted font on, if you choose to. :)

TCSS most certainly DOES carry an LED driver that offers ramping power up/power down, FoC, blade flicker and lockup effects for stunt sabers. It costs $50. Requires 5-25V input and can drive up to 3A.

H2soy message me if you want info on the recharge port.
