I just saw their announcement of day blades on instagram, they're available only through etsy for now, priced at 35 dollars, I'm trying to restrain myself from buying bc I'm broke but we'll see how it goes.

I love how they placed the blades in the same order with a rainbow lol

How does the day blades effect the light in the dark? That's probably a stupid question but I've been debating on getting one.

Like other Day Blades I have, I am guessing that during sunlight you can see the color well owing to the colored plastic and will give the impression of a glow, maybe even with some sheen under direct sunlight. At night, little difference in brightness but perhaps a different effect. This is my experience with other Day Blades.

I look forward to these new Day Blades by SF. Variety can be good thing.

Important part is to remember you can't use a day blade in an attempt to mix colors. A red blade on a blue LED will NOT make a purple saber. You just get a red blade that won't light up.

Match the blade color to the LED.

Red: Red
Orange: Blood Orange/Amber
Yellow: Amber/(maybe Yellow)
Green: Green
Blue: Light/Medium/Deep Blue
Purple: Purple/Indigo

White LEDs will dim a bit but light up every blade. In-person, a thick-walled blue blade with white LED has a bit if a white-core with light-blue aura to it.

Lets say you have a red day blade, and you use both your day blade and your normal V4 in a room with a little sunlight coming from windows, would the day blade change the shade of red you see on the V4?

i recommended to someone in the forum to get a vv photon blade to change his red-lit led blade to green. i mentioned your video review of the photon blade. on hindsight, i think my idea was wrong. have you tried the photon blade on a red led?

these sf day blades look great! looking forward to seeing a review.

I think only Blue LEDs turn to green in a photon blade, red led + photon makes red again. As I inferred from this video

Photon indeed turns blue to green. Or blue to whatever enhanced day blade they have now.

Also note: Phil mentioned on FB that these do NOT have film inside, so expect core effects and some decreased lighting compared to the standard V4. That said, I'm still gonna try one. lol

Ouch, no film is really going to effect brightness. These things are going to dim in the middle pretty badly.

I still might pick up a yellow day blade and install my own film. Been wanting yellow for a long while.

I love the VV blades, but I can't stand that texture/lines on them. I may try my first film adding to these. If nothing else, look like decent day blades lol.

Haven't tried the VV blades, but I always sand my own (not parallel, but in rings, like a weathered SF hilt). Helps diffuse the light on clear blades for fuller lighting. On day blades, it also helps to knock out some of the shine, at the expense of blurring the core.

Purple blade w/mirror automotive window tint, rolled to reflect inward. Thoughts?

You want clear giftwrap (cellophane). Dollar store has ~30" rolls, or you can spend a bit more for a 40" roll elsewhere.

I use about 6' in thinwall blades. A little less in thickwall since the ID's smaller.

Just pulled the trigger on a 32in Green Day blade for my 12w+ Green Exhalted! Just hope it's not too dim because of the lack of reflective film. I will post pictures as soon as I recieve it along with my Exhalted back from it's 2nd RMA! :silly:

I think enhanced day blades dont turn blue into something, they should be used like normal day blades, using the red blade with red LED for example. I saw a guy using Red EDB with a blue led on youtube, the blade had a blue core and a pinkish orange aura

Have you tried the one on TCSS before?

Nope. Read up on them though.

The standard TCSS diffuser is apparently a white plastic tube similar to the diffuser in Force FX blades. Doesn't really appeal to me when a roll of cellophane and a 0.5" wooden dowel will let me diffuse a whole bunch of blades with an arguably better result.

The Corbin film has some really neat effects, apparently (An inner core that starts wide at the base and tapers to a point at the blade tip along with simulated extension/retraction), but they require:

1) A thin wrap (more wraps make the blade brighter at the cost of diminishing the core effect
2) A soundboard capable of gradual light-up and dimming of the LED (The brighter the LED, the longer the core - extension/retraction is simulated by adjusting LED brightness)
3) A bright multi-die LED to compensate for the dimmer nature of Corbin blades

With few exceptions, most blade builders stick with the clear cellophane.

This^^ is odd. Browsing Etsy (as you do) and noticed that the Product description references film and also when you're selecting Blade Type, there's a Dropbox specifying between Normal vs. Thin Neck Hilt. Presuming the Product Description is an error what difference does Blade Type make since the inside would have zero glue and film?

My .02 would be give it a couple days, or troll the custom saber/saberforge fb groups for the announcements from phil. It was in one of the comments. (I can't look it up at work.) Or someone email the CSR's and ask.

My doubt comes from the fact the Etsy listings are known to be copy-pastes with minimal error checking. (I.e. the old Quick Connect link being in the saber listings at launch).

2 outcomes:
-I'm right and it's a copy-paste from the standard V4 listing
-I'm drunk and imagined it lol

I'm staring at the images, and there's a jump in look from the threaded section of the blade to the rest of it - but I can't tell if it's just clear tube or diffuser reflecting back. I'll take a look at my scrap of thickwall blue and see how it compares, but yeah, a definitive answer would be nifty.
