I heard the cog comes out of the pommel. I can't really get it to budge, and I don't want to try and force it if it's not supposed to come off. How's it supposed to come apart?

Also worth mentioning it's off of my Templar.

Lefty loosey, righty tighty. ;)
Also worth mentioning it's off of my Templar.
Unless there's been a change with what's used with inventory and how the piece is manufactured, Avenger Pommel's on Avenger/Templar as a prebuild I haven't successfully budged either (although, haven't really tried applied heat). Pictured above is ASP Avenger Pommel that was received as a replacement.

So if I ordered an ASP pommel will it work on my Templar? The item page says it's not ASP compatible. I'm hoping that's not including the pommel.

You can get an ASP pommel and it will fit on the Templar. I did a custom Templar a few months ago and I can confirm that the threads on the body are compatible. The only thing about the Templar is that the emitter(s) and the switch section are one piece. Other than that the Templar will accept ASP bodies and pommels.
RELEASE THE KRAKEN!
