I am slightly new in custom lightsaber community. So I am not sure if I really pointing the issue correct. I consider if you have some blades not in use for a while, the blade can collect some dust inside and this can effect the illumination. Therefore I designed a blade dust cover and printed in 3d. I am still experimenting but I would like to hear your comments.

Never thought this up as an issue. I suppose I'll probably put a condom on mine :D
No, but in all seriousness, cool little workaround you made for yourself. Looks like a solid solution.

Those are really nice 3D blade covers. The dust gets inside so quickly as seems to be attracted to the poly-acrylic. I use 1" leg tips which can be used on anything tubular. Most often for canes and crutches. Easy to find and reasonably priced in multiple styles and thickness.

Dang I never thought about this as a possible problem with blades! I'll have to give it a look on my sabers! I guess the more you duel the worst it is!

If the blade opening is blocked by a saber emitter, then no dust can get in. Once you fire up your saber, the blade color and continuity can be quite affected by dust or dirt particles. Is difficult to entirely remove. Also the plugs or covers protect the edges of the blade. :)
