I just got my warrior tier epoch in the mail and I'm super excited. Unfortunately, the blade doesn't seem to want to go all the way in. I can only get the bottom of the blade to the third window from the top and it won't budge. What should I do?

The only thing I could possibly think of is that maybe the blade retention screw isn't loosened all of the way? Something must be protruding out causing it to stop, there's no other reason for only some of the blade to fit in

Will the blade plug fit all the way?

Does it seem like the edge of the blade is catching on the edge of the window?
Or the blade retention screw :P Only makes sense.

It looks like the blade I received may be a bit too thick. The blade plug fits fine and has no issues, so I'm sure the problem lies with the blade thickness. Does anyone know what to do in this situation? Should I attempt to sand down part of the blade or would that damage it? Thanks for the help.

You won't ruin the blade by sanding it down a little bit. I haven't done so personally, but I would think it best to use a coarser paper first and then polish the blade up with a finer grit. But you might want to wait for a second opinion on that.

I guess Inner diameter of Epoch is not tapered.
So, if the problem is blade thickness, it might not go in a emitter at all.
Are there any Unexpected projection?
I think you should sand down innner side of the hilt first.

Good point. Do you have any other sabers you could try the blade in?

The blade plug goes in cleanly, I see no imperfections in the inside of the hilt, and the blade appears to be thicker than the blade plug when I put them up against each other. However, the blade goes in smoothly until it hits the window portion of the epoch. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'll probably try to just sand down the blade a bit. I'm not really all that familiar with what grit to use, so if anyone has any suggestions, that would be awesome.

I'm afraid this is my first saber.

You have sanded theblade down and go well?
You should sand "not appearing part of blade" or "inner side of hilt that blade is caught part".

I have the same problem with the acolytes I received last week! Blades are not going deep enough in the sabers, so are the blade plugs!

Probably use 80 or 100 grit first, then polish it with 240 grit or higher. Only use the 240 grit once you can get the blade all the way in.

I have to wonder if this is indicative of variances in the blades themselves, or the dimensions of the various emitters used on sabers? It is not a consistent issue, but seems to occur frequently enough to wonder why.

Anytime you make something in bulk you're going to end up with like 1/100 that is just a hair too thick or too thin. I've had this problem with my thin neck blades, 4 out of 5 of my thin neck blades will fit any of my three thin neck sabers, but the fifth won't fit properly, just a hair too thick. Just grab some fine sandpaper and run it along the bottom of your blade for 10 seconds, and then make sure your blade is going in straight so it's not catching on the inner lip of one of the windows. Good luck!

Yeah I have a SF blade plug that is too wide at the top. It gets stuck about 1/8" before it's fully seated. I can force it almost all the way in but I have to use pliers to get it out lol.

I've sanded it a bit but not enough to make it fit. I don't regularly use it anyways so I haven't bothered with it. I'm planning to use it in a future DIY build.

Yeah it should go past them and stop right after the last window.

That is unfortunate to say the least. I hope the sanding solution works. Having said that; I feel someone should be the child here, so I will do it. "Unfortunately, the blade doesn't seem to want to go all the way in", that's what she said. Seems fortunate to me. lol

After a terrible sanding job, all of the issues have been resolved. The Epoch is a really beautiful saber and I'm glad I chose medium blue. The 12W is beautifully bright. I'll definitely recommend saberforge to friends, but I'll probably use etsy for future purchases.
