I've been spinning poi and a bokken for a few months now, and I think I'm ready to finally buy a saber, but which one!

Spinning is what I will be doing most with this saber, and I hope to use it for performance in the near future.
This being the case,

Which saber offers the greatest ease in spinning? I'm looking for a balance point near the flange of the hilt (obviously, cant be touching light beams, can we?) and a more or less unobstructed reach of the hilt.

Also, I've heard that saber forge blades are substantially heavier than ultrasaber midgrade blaedes, so I'm wondering if I should buy the blade from them and the hilt from the forge (Saber forge has undoubtedly more beautiful designs).

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I don't own any US blades but yeah, infinity blades are heavy.

It's generally accepted that the Gladius has good balance but I don't own one.
I would think that most hilts with a high choke would be good. My venom and viper are both pretty spin friendly cause of the choke. I prefer having claws on but it would of course be easier without them.

I use a 32" infinity blade. The balance is I think an inch or two up the blade on my viper. 32" works way better than 37" but that's also gonna depend on your hilt.

You might want to go with a resilient or something that doesn't have anything on the hilt to get in your way. Plus resilients look really nice.

The Exhalted has a great spin point at the neck.

I've heard mixed reviews on their illumination but seems that infinity blades are heavier and more durable. I don't own any US blades, it's just based on what I've seen and heard. Infinity blades are pretty heavy, though. I have no worries at all about breaking them, I'm more worried about whatever I'm hitting them with.

I have some US blades and an infinity blade v3. Basically, the infinity is about the same weight as an US heavy grade, that is just over 10oz. The US midgrade is just over 6oz so just over half the weight. If spinning is your aim, I would highly suggest the lighter blade. Spinning with an HG blade is more cumbersome and flips are a lot harder to manage. Just do a blade grab bag and get a few on the cheap. Save the infinity blade for demo and dueling. It is sturdy and nice to look at. If you want help with the spins, pop over into the tutorials section. There is a whole thread on it.

Thanks Cephalus, that's precisely what I needed to know.

I'll definitely be spending some time in that thread!
