I don't think the hilt I've made is even strong enough to actually hold a blade though. I'm worried it'll just end up snapping the top off, lol. I guess you were one of the posts that hadn't be approved till Brax was promoted. I was using 25mm ID, but I am moving up to 26mm to be able to fit a blade. I bought a blade to test but have to make some adjustments. I know that it won't be as strong as a milled metal saber, but I am hopeful it will stand up to some fun play dueling. |

I printed out a lightsaber at 25.4mm ID and the blade was just that much too large to fit. I've also taken to printing my IDs at 26mm. I ask about the integrity, because when I was putting my hilt together, I felt that the threading I used was pretty fragile. I definitely feel like that's where bad things will happen if they were to happen.

yeah, 1inch is technically 25.4 but 3d printing always swells just a little bit. My threading is nice and stable, but I was messing with my renegade that isn't big enough for a blade, and I think on any strong hit it would snap. But they still look nice, and could be good for cosplay/display.

You didn't. I only brought the ahsoka to that. It is a fixed model, no internal space so it couldn't have electronics ect. Its strictly a desk decoration.

Now that I can see it in real life I appreciate this form more.
The base of the emitter didn't come out right so I can't attach it, I'll have to reprint it after modifications. However, here are some pictures with a tcss blade in. This is printed in PLA and is not finished or painted in anyway. |

Ok I made my modifications to the emitter and printed that. Now it all goes together.
Here is a comparison against the not-renegade And here is the new emitter and the old emitter. Old on left new on right. I sanded the old to show what it looks like when it's been sanded/finished but not painted. The new emitter is straight off the printer. |

I will be giving this hilt away. It has enough internal room for electronics, but you wouldn't want the leds to make the hilt too hot. PLA will get flexible around 50C and soft before 100C. (I print it at 200C so its melty but not too melty). I don't plan on finishing the exterior. There isn't a hole for a blade retention screw but one could be drilled easy. A 1 inch outer diameter blade does fit. I will print a blade plug for it. I just need to figure out my method for giving it away. I do have one restriction, US only to keep my shipping costs to just a couple bucks. Sorry UK guys.

Oh holy hell! Now I have a more compelling reason to want to see ASP go live, and that is so we can see if parts for this saber are included in their first expansion pack, as was the word months ago. It has been on my "MUST HAVE" list since the moment I saw it, but now it is more than a pretty picture. Your 3-D print has given it physicality, and perspective, and it is more gorgeous than I'd imagined!
