No LEDs. The flashlight is white. The blade plug is a transparent blue.

What material did you print the hilt out of? Just curious since Kouri's post yesterday (https://saberforgeforum.com/forum/open-topics/10491-leds?start=40) got me thinking about the role of the metal hilt as a heat sink for the LED.

If you used a Nylon copolymer I think the hilt will handle temperature better than PVC, but will still be largely ineffective as a heat sink. If you're planning on installing custom electronics in the hilts I'd recommend trial-and-error testing the proper current for the LED module (starting at 700mA) and seeing how the temperature buildup feels after some time.

This one is printed out of PLA. I normally use ABS (the same thing legos are made off). These would definitely require using low heat leds. I think they would just be display hits, sound and small lights, no blade.

"Schmots" I hear you say, "what is up with the give away?"

I decided I did want to finish it. Here I have sanded, primed and painted.

I also redid my "rebel" hilt to 2.0

There it is as a comparison to the original.

And speaking of the original, the contest which you can enter just by sending me a private message (open to us residents only) is now a first and second place prize. First place is your pick of the two sabers. Second place is the saber first place doesn't pick. Here is a comparison as they currently are.

The Septer and Rebel will be the first two hilts I'll have on my etsy site when it's up.

These hilts are decoration only. Not strong enough to duel with.

That Septer looks amazing, Schmots. That finished product looks unbelievable. Super nice finished product. That will make a wonderful shelf/conversation piece! Well done on creating it. I enjoyed seeing each step of the process. Whoever wins your giveaway will be very lucky!

Thanks MHM

I will ship the winner the saber hilt as long as they are in the US. I haven't seen a private message from you. I figured you would want an entry in the drawing.

I will do the drawing next weekend. Good luck to all who enter

Maybe I should make a thread just for my little give away.

That, schmots is extraordinary. Great work! I can only imagine the patience required with the number of hours in total printing time to complete the Hilt which doesn't even included the extra labour on top with painting and sanding towards finishing. It is a shame (for me) I'm not eligible to enter with not being in the US. A prized piece nonetheless to the successful participant. Thank you for sharing the production progress.

Thanks For Tyeth,

I didn't like the design of this saber when it was just an image on my screen, but having a physical version to look at and hold changed my mind. Its a very comfortable hold and a practical design.

So.. I just got a package in the mail from Schmots. I LOVE the paint job. It does feel really really comfortable. Schmots did say it was 15 inches big. Here is a side by side next to the Bastion, to give people an idea.

I cannot express how excited I am to have it in my posession. The craftmanship is amazing. Schmots, you have a gift for creativity. Seeing the process from start to finish to now in my hands is simply wonderful. I cannot wait to see more work from you sir. I am dumbfounded. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to enter in the giveaway. Here is another picture for you all to enjoy. Thank you again Schmots! You are wonderful sir. Also props to how well it was packaged.
