Take a deep breath before diving in. Have been doing some studying lately and if executed correctly, as it's consistent to my other write-ups that are picture heavy, reaching the end may be longer than usual.
Starfall from Starfall Sabers by Nick Cohen. This Hilt is Two of Two and was delivered with
Infinium. The younger sibling if you will however definitely not the smallest or the lightest of the two. Consistent to the other it has been built with what appears to be completely random metal parts or perhaps parts that once functioned and played and integral part to another working machine. Salvaged, chopped and reforged into a Saber Hilt. Clever really as it takes remarkable ingenuity and creative thinking to recognise a measure of value in something quite possibly and ordinarily seen as waste and identifying reuse for upcycling.
It has a rugged elegance to it that is generous in weight, girth and robust without any fragility about it. To me, it looks and calls for a single hand grab for wielding however doing so seems like a battle of heft that requires the assistance of the second hand just to stabilise its strength and support unparalleled toll.
I humorously refer to it as PipeBomb. Based on its weight, its loosely interpreted appearance and when the Red Blade glows, complimented by some deep throaty idle hums, all of this that follows a wicked ignition that makes it seem unstable and could just explode spitting shrapnel and debris everywhere.

Knowing this was an early starting point from the Creator, it's not the cleanest of builds or the cleanest of assemblies. The obvious is conclusively drawn when the Body Sleeve is removed for access to the SD Card. The Speaker housing has received more than its fair share of glue and the battery and SoundBoard, while packed securely stuffed, has been roughly executed. Whilst the observation can be made it definitely doesn't become a dismissing factor. Actually, knowing what was coming, Nick was completely transparent with what I'd be getting and I was happy to accept.
The inner Body has been amateurishly packed and stuffed to enable a tight fit to ensure that nothing is loose once assembled and tightened. If I was expecting a brand new build what is seen wouldn't have been accepted lightly. If at all, there is a finer appreciation of this rough-cut when compared to knowing and seeing the level of his builds where they are today and the attention to detail that receives no compromise. This is the Potato before it becomes the crispy fries and what a potato.
I like this Hilt. Agreed it may not be the prettiest of Hilts around either. With random swings around the home it has become my current goto. This may be part that it was the latest to be received and it's a subconscious acceptance to give it equal quality time as I have for every other before it. The other part I believe is the weight surrounding it. It's not the easiest to swing and certainly not the lightest to spin. As days progress though and with alternating to the other Hilts, they soon feel considerably lighter and thinner in a closed hand than they did before. The others that is, this one will always be a solid bastard.
I've always had a misconception about brightness, blade richness and depth. Even as a Single Cree Red I was pleasantly surprised. Not knowing more specifics, perhaps a quality LED and quality lens paired with a sufficient blade promotes greater (than I had imagined) a very Red illumination. Sound is rich, deep and loud too. As this is a picture writeup, you'll just have to take my word for it.
It may just be due to the settings I have it on however compared to my Custom Exalted, louder by two-fold.
A (biased) beautiful Hilt that requires a second look and exercises great strength and conditioning. This time with Hilt acquisitions, going old has definitely been as equally rewarding as going New. Starfall has been through its paces and more than likely, around the block a few times over.
Thank you for stopping by. There's drinks and refreshments over by the entrance, help yourself.
