The Phoenix originally wasn't a model I could envision in red, seems to "lightside" for it, but honestly I think it looks really sharp! That model keeps impressing me... lol

Thanks. I'm really, extremely happy with it despite my issue with the shroud retention knob. I received the word of approval from SF saying light hilt mods are acceptable and don't void any warranty to the electronics, as long as whatever the mod was isn't the direct cause of the issue needing repair. So; sanding the hilt and adding your own greeblies are all good. Which is what I'm brain storming now for this baby. And also a new name perhaps.

I went with red on a whim to be honest. It has quick connects so I'll change for whatever my mood calls for. I also wanted the Crimson sound board so the red kind of ensures that.
Switching out modules is also why I went with the white a/v switch. Just so it goes with whatever colour I decide to install for the blade at that given moment and it won't take away from the rest of the saber. I chose the black bodied a/v switch because I wanted it to blend into the black milled grip section, which it does nicely as well.
It does look sharp though. Just a clean Imperialistic style saber. Doesn't have to appear bad ass to be effective, am I right?
I just put in an order for a 12w+ amber for it. Which is what I originally wanted and decided to wait for it's availability.

Iunno, I think it looks rather badass. :)

There's a pretty common theme that "sith" or darkside sabers NEED to be weathered, but honestly... Vader's, Dooku's, Maul's, even Sidious's hilts in the movies were all very clean and silver. Was actually the Jedi that had some more weathered looking hilts... Obi-Wan's especially from the original trilogy was very weathered. Makes this saber look more "true to life"... and honestly, I'm guilty of the weathered and red combination myself... lol.

I suppose I meant "appear" bad ass as in not only is it not weathered. But there are no claws or blades or any of that sort on it which would maim your victim before you even ignited the saber. =)

Really nice looking saber!
If it was in my hand, I will polish silver shroud asap.
How's the fitting to your hand?

Thanks man,
I am looking at polishing it soon.
Just reading up on which grits of sand paper are best. I was also thinking to use a wire wheel first to remove the powder coat. It's difficult to make that first step because it is still new as I've had it for 5 days and once you start down that path, you can't undo what you have do'd.

The fit in the hand is perfect. You can hold it anywhere along the hilt and still have a comfortable grip. The location of the retention knob (if it stays in place) is good as well, it does not get in the way of your grip, but feels even nicer with it gone. Use an adhesive to keep the shroud in place to open up that top portion just under the rabbit ear and you'll have a perfect duelling saber.

I'll post more pictures in the near future once I finish my custom touches. It may take a little time though as I thoroughly think out my mods and gather the proper tools and parts.
