Hey everyone,
I've actually had this saber for a bit now (Sept 4) and never did a review or posted some pics so, here it is.
This was my 2nd lightsaber purchase and felt it had to be a canon saber as my first buy was the Phoenix.
For some reason it is the quietest of all my sabers and to me that is a pro, not a con.
I find the sliding card on the control box rather clumsy and it seems to open easily and slides rather loosely, it does have a slight locking mechanism which is literally to push the card all the way down and it keeps you from depressing the button.
It has a tiny kill key hidden underneath the slide card. I almost lost it on several occasions. The time I thought I lost it for good was when I forgot it in the pocket of a pair of pants that I put in the washing machine. Luckily, the force was with me and I found it. Nice and clean I might add…
I had a difficult choice to pick either the standard or weathered finish. Without pictures shown of it, I really didn't know what the weathered finish looked like (whether true to rotj or a SF weathering style) so I went with the standard finish and was glad that I did.
This sits on the shelf most of the time but I think it's necessary for any collection as its an iconic piece. The first green saber and ode to his mentor Kenobi.

Without any further delay, I present to you:

The Prodigal Son

I've got this exact saber (12w+ as well) in production right now. :D

I have two sabers on order - This one and a Hero-Tier Sinister Prophecy - as well as two ASP hilts, but I still haven't held an SF product in my hand. The excitement is killing me!!

Ya. It's pretty epic.
The above pics on the white blanket i was using a different light setting which what made the green look a bit off coming directly from the emitter. But I changed the light setting for the final pic and the green turned out proper and looks as it should… awesome. Lol

It's a sweet saber. I had a small issue that I forgot to mention with my led module rattling but was able to fix it myself. It wasn't a huge problem. I also don't like how the tri-ring is on the switch box side. It makes it an awkward one to hang from the belt as the switch box is up against your leg and the slide card opens all the time.

Lol, so you have 4 but yet to receive one. Lol amazing. I know the feeling tho. I had 2 or 3 before I received one.

How did you fix the LED rattling? I seem to have the same problem with mine. I'm pretty sure I could think of a way fairly easily but as someone who's encountered the problem before I'd love to know how you solved it.

I just wrote out what I did on another thread someone began inquiring about a "rattle inside hilt?"
If you see it, hope it helps you out.

Awesome! I just got mine as well. Am I right in thinking that prodical son doesn't really need a kill key since it doesn't have a lit up switch? Is the sf board burning up power in idle without a lit switch light?

I'm not sure but I would think it still uses power...

Are you the Captain America shield Chris Fields? Lol

The sabercore soundboard that SF uses doesn't have a deep sleep mode so without the kill key installed it will be constantly supplying power and eventually drain the battery. There are non-lit switches available also. So regardless of whether it contains an led ring or not, it will be powered.

Yes, but is the drain so bad with something like a prodical son that has an unlit switch? .. Also.. does the recharge port and charger supply enough amps to keep the blade on while plugged in? I would assume you'd have to turn the sound all the way down or off (is that possible?) .. Thanks !

And kill keys are only included at Champion tier+, right?

I've never left the key out to know how bad the drain is.
The charger will act exactly like the kill key in a way that once installed it creates an open in the path of power to the circuit (but with the charger it recharges the batteries.. obviously) so with the charger attached, the saber cannot be turned on.

SF recently came out with a new warrior tier board, I can't recall what it is called. But it allows the same led blade flicker functions of the champion tier along with a recharge port and kill key.

The champion tier settings also offers 3 sound settings (low, high and mute) as well as 5 swing and clash sensitivity settings all of which are accessed thru an onboard menu by holding down the a/v switch until the menu activates.

Hi everyone,

May I ask you NeBosa, have SaberForge changed the number of swing/clash levels as my Champion Disciple has 9 motion levels and 9 clash level sensitivities. The blade flicker has 5 levels, 1 being a solid light and 5 being a very fast flicker.

Sorry to interrupt.

sorry. my mistake.
I was on a roll with 5s. You are correct with swing and clash sensitivity having 9 each and blade only having 5

Thanks NeBosa,

I just thought I'd clarify, plus it gave me a reason to fire up the Bal'demnian Blade again!

Kind regards
