That's actually good to know about the evolution of these designs. I jumped onto the scene much later than you and am completely ignorant of the previous versions. Was it an evolved design also for the Redeemer [where now the KK and dummy AV switch is directly below switch box] where the dummy AV switch used to be the actual activation?

I've only been on the scene for almost an exact year.
I'm unsure where they were on the Redeemer previously as its current location is where I've always seen it.

I wanted to ask if the brightness decrease near the emitter (because of the raised "light tube") is noticeable. What are your thoughts?

12w+ reduces base flair, and lights the blade more evenly by using higher grade LED dies than the previous generation, and by bringing them in closer to the center to concentrate the light better. So, yeah...it should do that. You also get the added bonus of being more power efficient too!

Thanks, but I meant that the part of the blade that goes into the emitter but is below the tip of the raised metal tube that carries the light to the blade may not be illuminated, as the light isn't shining directly on it. The diffusion film may carry some of the light to that part, wanted to know if this dimming was noticeable.

Ah! Now I see. The light tube that protrudes about 1/4 of an inch above the emitter on the PS. I have never seen a picture that shows a dim spot on the blade due to that. Did you see one? I looked at my Exhalted, but it uses the Redeemer emitter where the light tube is flush with the emitter, so I can't say I have first hand knowledge, or pictures to speak intelligently on the subject.

It seems to appear on the Saberforge website pictures that there's a dimmer spot on the blade. I noticed it when looking at the Chosen, and if there was something there, it would be on the Prodigal Son as well.

This is as opposed to something like the Exhalted, where there appears to be no such spot.

That "spot" is where the diffusion film inside the blade is missing (or has been removed) to allow the blade to fit in the thin neck emitter.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. But does anyone know how it looks in person?

I have a couple SF blades made for thin neck emitters, and one some of them this effect is more noticeable than others. Not sure if there's any actual correlation here, but my 32s seem to look better than my 37s there. Looks pretty much exactly as it does in the pic on the bad end of the spectrum. About 3/8"-1/2" ring around the base that doesn't have the diffusion film, and looks different than the rest of the blade. I'm guessing they cut these higher up to fit in the prodigal son emitter, which has the inner ring protruding from the emitter. Honestly, it's way less noticeable than the lack of light on the tip, and most folks don't notice unless you point it out, or take close up photos.

That spot is actually the inner emitter; when you look at the photos without the blade you'll notice it sticks up a bit on the Chosen. this is to provide greater blade stability and to ensure that the blade has plenty of grip even with the shallower blade socket on this emitter.

I am looking to get the prodigal son, but I'm not sure if I want to pay the extra money for the sound. Can I get the warrior edition and install a soundboard in it later if I would like? If so, how would I go about doing that?

Yes, and you could even install a different soundboard! You'd go about doing that with a soldering iron, a soundboard of your choice, some other bits and pieces, and a bit of expertise (expertise may be provided by YouTube).
Also, since it's your first post, I'll invite you to read the FAQ and rules, and to introduce yourself in the New Member Introduction Thread. Welcome to the forums!
