The Prodigal Son returns…

This is a truly exquisite saber, and I think every Star Wars fan should try and get one in their collection.

Agreed! I just got my hands on a Initiate version a few weeks ago and I plan on doing the install myself. I actually just ordered the LED module and blade from Etsy since they were having a sale!

You are absolutely correct. The hilt is a sight to behold AND hold! :D After watching your video, it's making me more excited for my install!

This is one I could seriously consider getting in an Initiate, or Warrior level. You are correct that every serious collector should have one, but it would be more for display than actual dueling (at least for me due to the control box).

Maybe a question of personnal taste, but I always prefered the Redeemer over the PS! Why? I tend to think it is because of the color variations on the hilt! I love the black/silver/brass pattern of the Redeemer!

However, I can tell that the PS is a very beautiful piece! Definitely a collection Item to have for every good fan!

Will do! I typically keep a build log when working on my sabers. This one should be no different! :cheer:

I hear you Revan, the Obi-Wan RotS is my all time favorite lightsaber hilt design, so as gorgeous as the Prodigal Son is, I always will prefer the Redeemer :)

Sweet, someone else that thinks like me! When I received my father's redeemer, it took me a great moment to decide to give it to him like it was planned haha! That saber is so beautiful it's hard to resists!

That is exactly why when I ordered my Exhalted, I asked for Grenade section to be colored solid black, Redeemer style. B)

DarthMario95,

Are the blades any different, between the thin neck and regular SF sabers? Will any 1" blade fit the PS?

Thanks, and great review!

I'm torn between the crystal reveal PS and regular PS at the moment...

Maxjive the thin neck sabers have special blades. On standard blades the inner diffusion wrap is glued very close to the bottom of the blade. On the thin neck blades the diffusion wrap is not glued, and is about half an inch to an inch shorter so that it doesn't scrunch up against the inner ring on the saber emitter.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering because I believe there are some blades out there that have reflectors in the tip to even out illumination in the blade. I was wondering if they'd be compatible with the PS, but sounds dicey. Thought it may make the flare less noticeable.

I don't know if you've used the Hero level RGBA LED in the thin necks, but I was wondering if illumination was even more of an issue due to the lower wattage of the individual colors coupled with the deep LED placement...

I don't have any direct experience with the RGBA hero on thin necks, but yes if the 12w thin necks are generally 10% dimmer than the 12w standard sabers, then the 3w-6w colors formed on a RGBA hero thin neck would definitely not be the brightest thing you've ever seen.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but if memory serves, the Crystal Reveal version of the PS is not meant for combat, though I think the other CR sabers are for some reason.

If true, that should enter into the decision making process.

Yeah, definitely! I think the springs and guides/rails for the CR are more delicate than the other crystal models.

I, however, will be dueling with my kids, if at all, so I not really factoring than in. I was thinking CR champion PS vs Hero PS (same price point)...thoughts?

lots of good info on this thread I was wondering about the thin necks myself and got all the answers here. I like the PS as well but I really like the look of the vertical grooves/lines on the grenade of the Exalted. You should check into this DarthMario95 but I believe exalted is spelled wrong on the store site as Exhalted I think unless I'm wrong and that was the intended spelling.

Thanks as always for all the info!

Nope. I believe that's how they intended to spell it haha.
