Hello Guys,

This is a short review about my first SF saber, The REBEL.
I'm surprised to see that this saber is not very famous among the fans.

I ordred a Weathered Rebel in Green, the 12w LED is bright, but not I as expected. Its a bit brighter than my Ultrasaber but it doesn't make a huge difference ( maybe because the battery isn't fully charged xD ). The Green color is amazing, at first i thought it was a Lime green LED because the Green color looks so different on pictures than in person. Also the 32" blades seems well made and very resistant. I might buy a 37" blade with my next saber, I think the blade will fit much better with this 2 handed kind of hilt.

The finish of the saber is outstanding and this design is siiiick, the weathering effect is perfect with a green blade. B)

The USPS shipment to Europe was pretty fast. I received it after 6 days at my home in France.

However I have multiples issues with this hilt. :( The little control box on the hilt is not very confortable for dueling and my LED is moving everywhere in the Hilt so i can't really play with it anyway. It seems that the LED isn't hold by anything in there. When i opened the bottom of the hilt in order to charge my warrior's battery, one piece came at me  . I didn't touch anything.

I think that this is the same piece as in the emitter, made to hold the LED, in front of it :

Anyway, very happy with my purchased, I hope the warranty include this kind of problem :(, help ?

I already sent an Email to the staff. :side:

Problem resolved. :cheer:

The c ring (which is the piece that came out) is generally used to keep the speaker in place in a champion saber. In a warrior it wouldn't have any function in the lower portion of the saber, but if there's one on the top of the led I suppose it is possible that there was one under it as well, and during shipping it shook loose. Having never had a rebel, I'm not sure of their retention designs, but usually the led module is held in place with a small retention screw much like the blade retention... is there a spot for a second one that may be empty? Could be that it fill out during shipping and beingsuch a small piece it would have been very easy to overlook when you unwrapped it. Easy fix tho, all you would need to do is go to a hardware store and get a little screw, 8-32 thread, to go in the rentention slot and hold the led in place.

Its kinda weird. There is no retention screw or spot to hold the LED like in others sabers. Also you are right, I think the piece was originally behind the LED.

It may very well be that it just shook loose during shipping then. Shouldn't be TOO hard for a DIY fix, just need a pair of fine needle-nose pliers and a good flashlight. take the battery out, put the C ring back in around the wires, and carefully push it back up against the bottom of the led until it's snug in place... unfortunate that you have to do it yourself, but if you're international it'll save you a LOT on shipping (plus running the risk of just having it shake loose on shipping it back to you AGAIN), not to mention time without your saber.. :(

Besides that issue, the hilt looks great, very nice how it turned out there. :)

For a snap ring, use snap ring pliers. They have little prongs at the end which fits in the holes of the snap rings for proper removal and install.

I would have to agree with you. The hilt is very unique and different. It is definitely on my list of sabers to own! Congrats on yours!

Thank you guys for the help.

Actually, this Saber is not that unique. For those who read Marvel's comics : "Kenan : The last padawan", this saber match Depa Billaba's Lightsaber.

I was not a big fan of the hilt at first but the combo between a Green LED and a Weathered hilt convinced me. So I asked Phillip to delete my first order ( 1 green Consular and 1 Deep blue acolyte ) and to send me this beauty from Etsy. Deffinitly Happy.

Hopefully, my Silver night is coming in few days ...

It's inspired hilt, but definitely unique one! I never saw pics of weathered Rebel.
Great piece!

Did SF change way of retaining LED unit or is it just a fault of one tech?
I dont think it as good way that holding LED by C-ring.

I don't think its their fault. Its just the design of the Hilt that is complicated because you can take off the Emitter. So there is almost no place for an other retention screw there.

Got it, but my old SF Reliant seems to have another solution.
Bigger retention screw goes through from the emitter shroud to the blade.
I think it's more reasonable.

Reliant and rebel are entirely different. Just depends on what they were able to design for the rebel. As this is the first I've ever heard of this issue, it honestly doesn't seem to be very prevalent.

Sorry I actually don't have Rebel hilt and knowledge about its structure.
I just would like to say "the fact that emitter shroud is removable doesn't mean they can't use screws for retention of LED."

Anyone who has Rebel hilt will be help for you.

The rebel, from what I understand, doesn't have much of an emitter shroud like the reliant or fury. It's a space/availability constraint, due to staying as close as possible to the screen accuracy from Rebels as they could while still making it their own design. So it does make sense that they might not be able to put in a LED retention screw, and could be using C rings to hold the LED in place instead. C rings are usually very, very stable once in and it takes a lot to get them out. My guess is that when it was shipping, it got cold, constricted, and vibrated its way lose. Unfortunate, but not disastrous lol. Anyway! Hope they get back to you soon with a fix.

Yes, Knytiri is right. I have some pictures for you :

So the blade retention screw :

Then, here is the emitter screw :

getting everything off :

and the LED retention screw should have been just below the blade retention screw

Thanks for those pics, really shows the design of the saber. :) Easy to understand why they had to find a different solution looking at those...

Also, cause I forgot to mention earlier, the tool Nebossa mentioned was the one I was trying to think of but totally had a brain lapse in remembering what it was called, lol. So, thanks for catching that one! :)

The problem is fixed ! :cheer:

I succeed to stuck a big piece of heavy paper between the AV switch module and the LED. Everything is working perfectly now ! :woohoo:

In the next few days, I might post a small video about some spinning.

Well, saddest day ever.

My Rebel died tonight while my brother was filming. First, the LED was moving all the way inside, then the LED barely died.
