I am LOVING what they are doing with Rebels so far! They have already done some really good story telling on that show that rises well above the presumptive "kiddie show" that everyone thought it would be; but now they are crossing into territory that would make a great feature film!

Otherwise known as "The guy that SHOULD be running the First Order", who they never should've de-cannonized to begin with.
Still, glad somebody wised up and brought him back. With his creator writing his triumphant return no less. GOOD, VERY GOOD. EDIT: I just watched the video, and while the Thrawn reveal was awesome, and most of the rest was great...as much as I like Jim Cummings as a voice actor, I can't stand Hondo. Dooku should've killed him in his first appearance. He just annoys the crap outta me. Also, when I saw the thread title my first thought was 'Slim Shady?' |

Also, when I saw the thread title my first thought was 'Slim Shady?' I love Hondo! I thought he was hilarious in TCW. Such excellent comedic tone and timing. He's great. I'm so happy he's back in Rebels. I remember that one episode in TCW where he helped out the Jedi by delivering weapons when they were under attack. He arrives, gives the weapons, and then the attack begins and he goes: "Would you LOOK at the time!" He's great. I know he's not supposed to be, but Hondo is now how I picture Talon Karrde when I read him. It's completely involuntary. Maybe because I listened to the audiobook narrated by MArc Thompson and he has a similar accent to Hondo. |

I can see how he can rub some people the wrong way, but I like Hondo too. Sure he usually plays for comic relief (and which is best in moderation), but it's always interesting to see how he'll try to wheel n' deal his way out of the current mess he's in.
When you think about it, Star Wars has a pretty good cast of "lovable scoundrels" between Han, Lando, and Hondo (hey, there might be a pattern here). |
