I've been playing with ideas in the saber builder for a staff that wasn't necessarily darkside, but one that could belong to a Jedi that walked the razor's edge, who'd seen and done enough to know that things aren't so simple. Then I saw the renegade and it was exactly what I was looking for, not to mention it made the process a bit simpler, and cheaper.

My concept for this saber was a Jedi veteran turned temple guard, the kind of Jedi Vader would've, or should've faced during the sacking of the Jedi temple.

The weathered finish was a bit to even and dark for what I was going for so I did a bit of hand sanding, some shattering to the grips and added some gold accents. Some satin clear coat finished it off. Hopefully the pictures post.

That is excellent! I don't own a staff as yet, but when I saw the Renegade, I thought it would make a great staff. I see I was right! Nice job on the customizations too!
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Good grief, that staff is FAN-DAZZLE !! The weathering and colored accents really give this saber an authentic vibe. Nicely done Squidious, and who did you commission to do the work?

I commissioned this dorky loser who has nothing to do now that he's retired. He gives me dirty looks in the mirror every morning while I brush my teeth. ;)

I'm far from being a pro, but I know my way around some power tools and a paint brush. Honestly the electrical components are the hardest for me as I have nerve damage that gives me a tremor in my right hand. Very unhelpful in soldering.

Thanks for the compliments.

Very cool. Was it intentional with the chosen final alignment of the switches?

That looks AMAZING! That's the shorter coupler, right? What's the total length, emitter to emitter?

I ordered one of these to build, and after seeing your staff, I'm thinking, I should have ordered two....

NICE!

Emitter to emitter it measures 22 inches.

There was nothing intentional about the alignment, as much as I would like the switches to be aligned, I haven't found a good way to do that. Any suggestions?

I prefer to sand down the female side to turn it clockwise. You can apply a thing layer of either nail polish or superglue to turn it counter clockwise.

Hi Darth Squidious,

You have a few choices, firstly you could buy a set of very thin washers called Timing Shims (SF sell sets of them in various thicknesses which alters how far the parts screw together and hence the alignment of two the parts).

Secondly you could sand the threads to alter the alignment. If you look up the TCSS video on "How to align MHS Parts" there is a demonstration there.

Thirdly but very much less elegant is using O-Rings in the same way as you would use the aluminium Timing Shims mentioned above.

All three will require a little bit of trial and error but it's possible.

Oops beaten by the Installer, but I'll post these alternatives anyway.

Maybe I'll hit it with epoxy once I'm sure it's finished

Awesome saber. I was thinking about a Renegade staff build and now that I've seen pics of one I'm sold. Incredible job and thanks for the pics.
