Finished soldering everything in today, and it works... mostly.
The momentary switch works fine for switching fonts, and the latching switch turns the saber on, but as soon as you turn the saber on, everything fails. The lights stay on, but the momentary and latching switches fail to respond, you can't turn the saber off, and no input is apparently being received by the board or speakers. Can't even get a hum out of the speakers.

I imagine it's just something wrong with my latching switch and I've ordered a replacement switch to redo my switch, just wondering if anyone has had this happen before and I'm going about this the wrong way.

Okay, it's definitely not the switch, my dumb self didn't even think to test it without the LED strips in.
So something is funky with the wiring on my strips?

Soldering those pads on the strips is ridiculous, so I may have messed up a data pad maybe? I'll try on new strips in a few days and see how it goes.

Any tips on the best way to set up two of these strips to my board? I soldered a male jst connector to my board and spliced the two strips together with the resistor in front so I could just hook them up dangling from my blade and it would be easily removable. Maybe I messed up there?

Everything else seems to be fine.

Really need to post some wiring photos to get useful feedback.

Yes, to Kouri you should listen. There are a lot of super knowledgeable people around who can probably figure out just based on photos what is going on.

It's quite hard to tell what's going on in the picture, so I made an amazingly detailed diagram to provide additional visual aid.

In the picture you can see I bumped the wires up a couple of LEDs, my problems were before that and it did not fix them :(

Picture

Super Awesome Diagram

Not exactly sure what went wrong there, I think the most possible solution is that I just overheated the pads on the LEDs and wrecked them.

Everything on my board works fine, but if you guys want them, I'll drop pictures of my board connections too.

My LEDs would power on with the saber, but wouldn't be the proper color, and they wouldn't shut off with the saber, they stayed on until the battery came out.

The resistor is a 300 Ohm 2W resistor.

Definitely need to check the board wiring.

Also check your configs. It sounds like you adjusted the settings to use a latching main instead of the default momentary main - but did you adjust the required settings to use a NeoPixel blade instead of in-hilt LED?

It's ugly, I know I'll clean it up and cover all my connections when It's working fine.

My settings were latching, but my main switch is latching, and my LED settings are on custom. I don't see a neopixel option, but I did set the number of LEDs to the correct amount.

I've checked with a multimeter and the strings are getting power.

And just checking that you entered the number of LEDs on one strip. So if you're using two 144 LED strips, you tell Igniter you have 144 NeoPixels, not 288.

Minus the few I trimmed off to fit in the blade, yes.

Test the blade with a dim white color - red, green, and blue at 10-15% each.

Also, what are the specifics on your battery?

EDIT: Also might be a good idea to just test one strip for now, and then solder the second one back in when everything works.

I may have missed it in the thread, but what battery do you have in there? Those LED strips pull quite a bit of current and the battery needs to be able to keep up.
