Hi All,
OK so I think this would be the place to ask this,
I was trying to create a new startup .wav file for a font bank for the SaberCore 3.0, since as I thought they are just .wav files should be easy....not, I created a simple wav file which I thought was correctly formatted
(mono,22050Hz,32bit float), am using Audacity to create the file. However every time I try to use it the SaberCore 3 settings editor tells me "invalid File"
So my Question is does anybody know the correct settings for the wav file to be able to use? or what am I doing wrong?
Help
Thank you

16-bit PCM, and just to be safe, ensure you're not adding any metadata to the file.

OOOOH Yess! nice! :woohoo: :woohoo: thank you thank you Kouri
I was saving it as 32bit float since it looked like all the other files were in that format
Thank you again!

Hi all,
Ok another sound font Question.
Is it possible to have one bank with only the startup, confirm, and clash wav's?

I'm going to try to link two complete sabers as a dual, but I'm thinking if I have both on, it would totally mess up the sound, Auditory mess!

If I can switch one saber to the bank that only has those sounds, all the rest of the sound would come from the other, and still be able to have both sabers lit.
That way if I want my two individual sabers I can just unscrew them, and switch to full fonts.
Will have SC3's on both sabers.

I don't have a SC3.0, but most boards just skip missing or incorrectly formatted sound files.

Ok so it seems you do need a hum.wav, without a hum when you power on it will just power off immediately. As sifidude79 said it will skip missing files. I will add a valid hum.wav and see what happens.

Hello Everybody, Rhyno,

I am by no means an expert on Sabercore3, but as an ex semi-pro musician I know a little bit about recording sounds and studios.

Is it possible to get Audacity (or any other DAW) to record a Hum.wav file BUT have the input values set to ZERO so you only record silence? You would still have a recording that is the correct length and will have the correct file size for Sabercore3 (so it will be recognised) but the file will be silent. The file should play while you use it but you won't hear anything.
(This technique is known as "recording a Dead Carrier" or "Dead Air")

kind regards,
For Tyeth

(p.s. this may work for any sound you want to mute - just record a silent version of it)

Thanks FT,
I think I did something similar, that I'm hoping will work.
In Audacity there's a "generate" tab where you can insert "silence", I inserted silence the same length as the original file and saved it as a 16-bit PCM, 22050hz, Mono hum.wav
This should work....right??

Hi Rhyno,

I hope so, that was what I was trying to describe (though not very well!) As long as the resulting file has the same properties as the original (same file name, file size, bit rate calculation etc) it should work and play a "Silent Hum".

Fingers crossed and let us know if it works,

For Tyeth

It should work fine, but I can't help wondering is you're making a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. As far as I'm aware, most folks prefer the dual audio effect of two complete sabers.

But yeah, dummy silent wav files will do the job. I used to whip those up for old boards that didn't have a mute option.

Thanks Kouri, FT
But don't you think if I left both sabers with full sound it would be all jumbled, messy?
Both hums, both swings going at one time, I don't have first hand experience with 2 full sabers as a dual, that's why I'm thinking messy.

Hi again,

It is a problem to get the two hilts to synchronise (if it's at all possible) so they trigger the same sounds together, it's just matter of preference. To some it doesn't bother them but you may find it irritating. You just need to try both solutions and see which you prefer.

It was discussed about 18 months ago when the idea of building your own saberstaffs became a reality with ASP.

Hi Rhyno,

No problem, there was an earlier thread on the topic but that may have been archived or moved since. It's one of the benefits I have of having been here over two years now......I remember stuff that others might have forgotten about!

However the thread you highlighted covers the same stuff. I look forward to seeing and hearing about the finished staff.

kind regards,
