Hello peeps, has anybody here ordered directly from Luxeon or have any experience with Tri-Rebels?

www.luxeonstar.com

I'm contemplating getting the best lime LED on the market but was a bit perplexed by the stats in their datasheet: LUXEON Rebel Color Line Datasheet

Mainly the lumens output for lime (off the charts!) and the forward voltage for reds (maxed out at 700mA?).

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

To get lime, you’re going to have to heavily resistor the red, so the lower forward voltage shouldn’t be an issue. (Unless you’re running two greens) You’re going to be running it well under max ratings.

Luxeon Tri-Rebels are nice. I have a cyan/cyan/white one in a saber I did last year.

I wanted to go Lime/Lime/Red for the new Adept (Ezra), to get a yellow FoC. Gonna use a Spark 2-R3 so should I resistor the red AND run it low say at 120-125 out of 255 for the FoC channel? I'm afraid the limes are gonna wash-out the red...

LEDsupply can provide you with the LED - they do custom orders. It may take a couple weeks though

Put a 1ohm 2watt resitor on the red.

wire the Lime green LEDs on a single channel. - play with the settings, start with red at half power and adjust up or down depending on the hue you want.

Hmmm was thinking more like 1.2ohms/2w for red but why bypass the mosfett using only one of the 2 channels for lime? Scott always recommends 1 led per channel whenever possible with his boards...

Thanks for the tip on Led Supply, the prices are great!

Unless you plan to mix the LED dice individually, no real need to separate the limes. It would just make for more complicated mixing if you do three channels, but entirely up to you.

Mmmm, I don't know that yellow produces enough contrast against lime for a good FoC color. You might want to blast red and turn down lime for an Orange FoC.

Alternatively, because Limes mix kind of funny, you could go Lime/Lime/RoyalBlue for a lime main with white clash.

I thought about simply going RGB since the S2-R3 supports it and the NECree is awesome, but getting as good a lime as the Rebel is a huge pain, tried it on my Dooku build and never quite got it (and it's now sold so can't experiment until a new build).

Your other option is a photon blade over an RGB or BBW LED. Same basic principles as the Lime LEDs - pumping blue light through a green phosphor.

To answer your question, yes LuxeonStar is a good supplier. Takes about 2-3 weeks but they're worth it. I've yet to have a single problem.

Both Jas and myself have had some issues with LEDSupply in the past...

Luxeonstar is where I get all my Lime/Green/x combos for Ahsoka green ;)

Which FoC colors have you tried with their lime?

I've ordered directly off Luxeon's website with no issue. The lime is stupid bright and 2 limes will be that much more bright. I've heard PC amber is a good mix with lime to get a good yellow, though not sure how 2 limes plus an amber would look; you might need to tone down the 2 limes a little bit.

I've used lime as my go-to FoC with my reds, which gives a great yellow FoC. I've also mixed a lime with a cyan to get a nice arctic green.

Finally decided on a Lime/Lime/6500k White from Luxeon. No experimental color mixing this time but it should be hella bright! Gonna take some pics when my Ezra's done and keep y'all posted ;)
