I'm looking into installing light into my recently acquired hilt, and before I begin I would like to know of any thin neck specific problems I would run into as well as what I need to purchase/acquire along with a 12w Led unit. I plan on uploading pictures of saber in question soon.

DarthMario! Surely, a tremor in the force alerted you to a question designed specifically for you!
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Is this a 100% empty hilt?

Are you only interested in light? No sound?

Should I assume you know how to solder and you have a soldering iron? Do you have any idea of what tools/materials you'll need for this?

I'll just assume you're using a SF LED unit, so you'll need that.
You'll need a 12mm latching switch. (A 12mm AV switch won't fit, it's too tall)

You'll need an 18650 battery and battery holder

You'll want something to keep it from moving around inside the hilt.

You'll need varied lengths of 8/32 set screws if the hilt doesn't already have them screwed in there.

The only thin neck problems are that they're a little dimmer than normal sabers and SF blade plugs don't fit into them. Although, Darth Mario has modified 1 or more in the past to make it fit into a thin neck.
