Hello Everyone,

I've been lurking the forums as a guest, but finally registered to see if I can get answers to some questions that I have regarding non SaberForge fonts on the SaberCore 3.0 sound board, spinning sound capability with SaberCore 3.0, and the ability to change the sounds based on certain inputs/buttons on SaberCore 3.0.

To begin, below is what I have discovered from my own research, but if you see any incorrect information, please feel free to correct me:
1. I understand there are NEC sound boards and Plecter Labs boards, and that the fonts and action sounds on PL optimized fonts include the hum on each sound file. In theory, this hum can be removed, along with any metadata, to enable the font to be used on a NEC board.
2. The Quick Reference guide for SaberCore 3.0 mentions "spins" and spinning as one of the sounds effects.
3. I know there is an editor program that allows you to manage the fonts, settings, sensitivity, etc. on your saber. This editor shows 4 sound files for spinning, and the spinning sensitivity can be adjusted.

All that being said, my main questions are as follows: Has anyone successfully converted and used a PL optimized sound font on a SaberCore 3.0 saber? Does the SaberCore 3.0 support spinning sound and does anyone have any videos of examples? Can the inputs be changed on a SaberCore 3.0 so pressing or holding the AUX/on/off button changes what the saber does (i.e. blaster deflection, lockup, power on and off, etc.)?

End goal is to be able to change the font to some awesome PL only fonts I found, utilize the spinning sound effect of those fonts, and change the button inputs (press vs. hold) for more convenient effects, all on a SaberCore 3.0 equipped SaberForge hilt.

Thank you for reading!

Hi GT
Welcome
As for converting fonts......short answer, it can be done
Long answer as per advice from someone very knowledgeable here ( thank you FT) unless you are very knowledgeable and have good audio editing software to me it’s not worth the trouble...You may have different experience

Pressing the power switch for 3 seconds then single or double press immediately after will give you a force effect or lockup respectively, which you can change to a font of your liking
I’m sure someone else here has more and better advice
Hope this helps

Hi GT,

Technically it is possible to remove the hum but a lot of the time the hum helps makes up the overall sound when it is mixed down (the hum also modulates with the effect sound and if stripped out can leave the resulting noise sounding very "Thin")

Software such as Audacity (which is free) can do this sort of process but is more suited to remove hiss and distortion using filters rather than elements of a sound. You may have heard examples where a piece of popular music has it's vocal track removed to produce Karaoke tracks, but these suffer and don't sound as good afterwards as the vocal element is embedded into the whole sound. Hiss and distortion sits above the sound frequencies in a recording and can be easily "chopped" off using a passing filter.

I can't assist regarding the button assignments and operation of the Sabercore 3/0 as I don't have one, but good luck on building the sound font you want.

kind regards,

For Tyeth

p.s. And to Rhyno, thanks for the shout out!

Thank you both for the answers regarding the font conversion process.

My curiosity regarding the button/input assignment in SaberCore 3.0 can be simply stated as: Can I change power up to pressing the button, power down to pressing once more (instead of blaster deflection), and holding the button to activate lock up (force effects wouldn't be used for this either). Not claiming this is an ideal setup, just an example for illustration purposes to see what can be done.

I'd love to hear more on the spinning sound activation! I'm really hoping it isn't something exclusive to the PL Crystal Focus boards.

Thank you!

Additional research led me to the discovery that the only board that supports the spin feature is the Crystal Focus line. If this is not true and doable on SaberCore 3.0, please advise.

Now off to find an affordable installer for a CF board in an empty hilt.

From my OP, I thought so too based on the evidence I found, but I cannot find any concrete answer. May I ask how you know this? Even better, can you share an example of it doing so?

I just spoke with someone at SaberForge and this was their response:
There is a spin sensitivity setting but not a spin sound effect. The spin sensitivity edits the minimal amount of motion require(sic) to trigger the swing sound effect.

Well....I have 2 SaberCore 3.0 ASP sound kits
both came preloaded with the spin sound files for all 3 fonts installed, both have 4 spin sound files for each font + the editor allows for spin sensitivity adjustments.
so...yes it does.

Ok, first person experience, that is awesome! I stand corrected, not sure why SF told me otherwise but nonetheless...

Can you confirm that we are talking about the same thing? Spinning as it appears @ 51 seconds in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kvr2H4929Q&t=51s

Thank you!!!!

To that I can't comment I don't do spinning and haven't tried.
I have heard the spin files and it sounds like it would do that....
Sorry I can't be of more help.

ISO Volunteers to perform a spin on a SaberCore 3.0 equipped saber and report back with their findings. Media demonstration would be even better. Thanks!

I agree! More documented experience with the new board is a good thing. I appreciate all of your help.
