Several months ago I picked up an empty Princess, mostly just to see how I liked the hilt itself. Sure enough, it looked good and felt great in the hand (similar feel to a Gladius imo). I saw a customized one, dubbed the "
Rebel Prince" on the instagram account of the guy who did the gemstone inlay of my Consular saber (DesertWolf Inlays). Olive green paint job and kind of a tsuka-ito wrap in the middle choke... just really got me looking at this hilt in a different light.
This sparked some ideas in my head, and when an installer known for doing some great weathering and customizing of SF sabers offered to take people's empties or stunts in exchange for commissions... I had to jump on that offer; I ended up unloading a stunt saber that I wasn't too thrilled with that covered the labor rate and made a fine addition to his collection (dude is seriously General Grievous of the saber community).
Without further ado, I present... the DARK PRINCE!

--- RIGHT??? There's a few more pics up on my Flickr gallery.
Of course, I HAD to load it with a full complement of Unstable sound fonts: Madcow's Unhinged and Spitfire, and Shameem's Sacrifice. The Red-Orange/Amber mixes to the PERFECT "Fire Orange", much better than a Red/Green mix imo. I put a couple RGW sabers next to this one for comparison, and the results were that the RO/A was brighter and more even than the R/G of the same shade. The brass screws and covertec go even better with this finish than I thought. Just need to let them naturally patina a bit more and it'll be perfect!
So, yeah... just because it's called the "Princess" hilt... don't count this one out.
