TOPIC: h2soy's Saber Cabinet (aka a saber brag)

My SF saber collection is now large enough that I needed to figure out a way to house all my sabers in a compact and kid friendly way that also pleased my sense of aesthetics and need to label everything. So what I did was buy a wine cabinet and place a foam insert in each cubby to protect both saber and wood. On each foam insert I attached a metal placard holder I could fill with the saber's name. Yes, I name each saber.

The cubbies work fine with any regularly shaped sabers but staves and "special snowflakes" need to be housed on the display shelf or on top of the cabinet. There's a slide out shelf below the cubbies where I'm temporarily housing all the chargers, accessories, gloves, etc. until I construct wood boxes that will slide in and out of the four empty cubbies on the far left side of the cabinet.

Before opting to pursue a career in education I was playing with the idea of getting a degree in museum studies... but the job market is abysmal for wannabe curators/researchers so I became a teacher instead. Now it's a bit of a hobby of mine to put together scifi/fantasy collections and categorize/display them. My wife is vaguely horrified/fascinated by the pickled kaiju fetus and Ohmu display I'm putting together. So yes, I looooove systems of display/categorization. Anyways... back to sabers. TY! It's about 60% where I want it to be. I still need to figure out a better way to utilize the display shelf w/the Bane and Custom Templar and I'm looking into ordering a four tier stand for the top of the cabinet for the staves. I've mocked up the boxes for accessory storage/ASP parts but I'm yet to construct them. So there's a way to go yet.

I was thinking of doing a display too, but I'd find a way to put them on a wall. Organise them in such a way that it looks the shape of a hill, with the masterpieces in the top middle.

Ideally, I'd find a way to link them to a switch, so I can light'em all up in a single step! And the rest of the room would be a hommage to Star Wars too!

What is your situation on blades?

DROWNING in them. I've really only used one of the 32", the rest of them are just sorta waiting for the zombie apocalypse to become useful. I'll probably be selling some in a month or two.

That looks like my blade situation. I have waaaayyyyy to many blades. I have been keeping them in baseball bat bags.

Nope.

Only the blades specifically made for thin-neck sabers don't have the diffusion film glued down. All others have a noticeable ring of glue down at the bottom which keeps that from happening.

Nice collection my guy, hey u should post pictures with all them layed out I have a couple sabers my self and am looking to get more but I want to compare sizes with some that I have already!? So yea more pictures please!

About half of my collection is out being upgraded so I can update my post once I get them back.
