Hey folks.

I'm making additions to my SF Redeemer that has no specific version even though its base is ROTS. My latest mod is inspired by the ANH OWK saber. To note **These 2 are just random google found pics**

So I was looking at the basic dummy switch and wondering what I could do with the odd things around me to Macgyver my own easy mod. I like what I accomplished with my first thought and try but would like to ask you all a question based on your own preferences. **These are my actual pics of my Redeemer**

Do you like the look of it WITH or WITHOUT the washer as the base?

Then, I need to figure out a kill key mod…

I really admire your handy work MacGyver. Your ingenuity never ceases to astound me. Personally, I'd go with how it's shown in the last image, without the washer. Appears more well-finished and neater in a somewhat semi-recessed placement. So with that said, do the complete opposite

Thanks for the kind words =)
I really like the non-washer look also.

Part of what is swaying my thoughts, is that I was considering the idea of making 2 of them and using the other as the kill key? If I can come up with a decent way to make it of course.

It would be much easier if the kill key wasn't offset. And if I had any lathe and machining skills or a 3D printer… rather than attempting to modifying found objects lol

Anytime time NeBosa.
I can't offer much for suggestions but incase you haven't seen it, there is a different thread going on that discusses similar content. You'll likely make more sense of the exchanges that are taking place.

I just took a look at the other thread. It's not in line with my dilemma. But I think I may have thought of some things to try.

The guy's inquiry on the other thread is easy enough to achieve...

Weekend Update

After drilling out and removing my dummy switch I now needed something to cover the hole in my saber indefinitely. I tried to modify a latching switch first as seen on a warrior tier saber, but if you cut it too short (which you must do for it to fit) the button separates from the housing. I found a small machine washer and also found a clevis pin that would fit in the washer. Cut the head off the clevis pin and left a tiny length of the body. Adhered the two together and then sanded them for a better finish. Here's out it turned out and I'm quite happy about the overall look (combined with my other small mods of my copper kill key and using the ESB/TFA card from my Graflex 2.0 kit on my switch box.

I've already been asked to make 2 more dummy switches lol.

Thanks.

To note, I actually did use the washer. Just the previous photos were test ones with it just laid on top of the existing dummy switch.
This time I removed the dummy switch all together and allowed the washer to sit in the recessed section.

Gotcha! I see it now. That makes sense. This looks good! I ordered a Redeemer hilt a while back. I'm going to take my first crack at building out my own saber. I've got a Spark 2 board coming. Such a beautiful hilt!

Great work NeBosa. You've successfully duplicated the switches to your sample image shown at beginning of this Thread on your own Redeemer. Tell me though, how did you find the time to source and troubleshoot this DIY when one of your two hands was in constant grip of a Yoda Hilt? ;) (The Force  )

I removed the Graflex 2.0 card and installed the bubble card.
