Does anyone know where I might find an aesthetically pleasing retention screw upgrade that wouldn't require an allen wrench? I'm looking for something that would feature a low profile knob with a gnarled texture similar to what we see on Saberforge's Monarch saber. Also....how would I go about finding the right size for the the existing hole? Any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi Kjarr,

I can't suggest a suitable replacement but I can tell you that the Retention Screws use an 8/32 thread so any replacement will require this thread gauge. Most hardware stores will carry screws with this thread, though they may need to be cut to length. I hope you find one you like the look of.

kind regards,

For Tyeth

have a look on the custom saber shop, look under the screws section, they have a few there.

I too have been looking for some knurled thumb screws for 2 of my sabers. I was thinking of these:
https://www.zoro.com/value-brand-thumb-screw-knurled-8-32x516-l-stl-z2312/i/G2812887/
https://www.zoro.com/value-brand-thumb-screw-knurled-8-32x38-l-18-8-ss-z2313ss/i/G1166602/

The first one thread length is .3125 or 5/16
The second one is .375 of 3/8 in

You can paint or get them

The Custom Saber Shop is a main 'go to' resource.

Other things I would suggest are tattoo gun machine screws. They are also 8-32 thread but are often 1" in length. Trimming to desired length is easy enough. Here's one I used before…

Shayne and DSE makes awesome blade plugs. I have 6 of them lol.

I no longer have that custom phoenix though.
I had it when they first released in July. Customized it in August when SF customs began and then sold it and bought something else in October.

3/8" is longer than 5/16" but shorter than 1/2" if they have any of that size available? I suppose it depends on the type of screw you're looking for.
