Trying to expand my skillset and tools, so learning to 3D-model and setting up a printer.

First project is replacing a modified MR Vader emitter shroud that cracked mid-duel (darn those things are brittle).

Original saber:



Having no background in 3D modelling but a fair amount of programming experience, I wound up tinkering with OpenSCAD and pushing this out in a few days:

A couple of hours for setup and printing, then:




And it fits!



Making a few sizing adjustments and putting back some detail to have some MPP replacements on hand:

Nice! That's something I have yet to try. I was considering getting a 3D printer, but decided to set money aside for the LS6 gull wing and Crossguard runs from Korbanth. I tried my hand at some 3d modeling many years ago for some video game mods and the results were not so good :P

Anxious to see how your skills at 3d modeling progress, that's really impressive for a first model.
