Hey E64,
Yeah I plan on doing a dark side slightly weathered look to it and changing from its medium blue LED to a Blood Orange one.
Any suggestions on doing a darker color scheme?

Really, I have two options for you. Either aim for a specific event, or just do whatever you think will make the saber overall look worn out and battered.

Maybe you want to say that your saber was caught in a furious bout of Force Lightning, or was activated underwater, or was struck in that cracked spot by another weapon. Then take a story like that and use your imagination to develop the saber's aesthetic.

Or, maybe you want a saber used by a powerful Sith Inquisitor who relied on Force Lightning channeled through his saber, so you play off of that. Or maybe, you just want the saber to be overall beaten up. Use speckles of texture and brownish-orangish with sanding to create rust, create an oxidation effect by painting the entire thing a color, going over it with texture and sanding that down...whatever comes to mind.

What do you guys think?
Looks good, nice effort. Specific to the punched hole in the neck, it may just be external damage only if that's the look you're going for. If you were going for some light shinethrough (IIRC) that hole is going to be plugged internally by the mylar film and will disable any residual light bleed from the LED..

Yeah I was going to let the light shine through. I was planning on trimming a little slot in the Mylar.
Hoping for the best!

Best of luck to you with this endeavour. :P
My concern with the attempt is the strategic and precise trim into the rolled fattie of the mylar to allow for the shinethrough (the rolled mylar after insertion back into the neck has it unravel slightly as it expands to fit the ID of the thin neck); the relative resting position of the slot to align with the external damaged hole; for a slot to be significant enough to allow optimal shinethrough of the single damaged hole- may compromise the lit effect and evenness of the blade since the reflective surface has been breached.

With that said though, the best may still come from it :)

I'd first test it without mods..
There are plenty of emitters in the SF portfolio that have the blade "shine through", why should the hole you made not work the same way?

It's not that it cant, desired effect may be hindered and limited. Other emitters that shinethrough typically rely on unobstructed residual light from the blade holder as the LED shines upwards (emitters with windows or without). With the Chosen (subject referenced hilt), it's a thin neck setup where the LED sits at the top of the grenade and the light from the LED is boosted through the internally fit reflective mylar. It's the mod being made to this film that will limit either the shinethrough effectiveness or the end result of the lit blade or both.

I took some dark matte spray paint, then after it dried I took some scotch-bright and took the paint off with that until I reached the weathering that I wanted.
Hope that helps
