If anyone is considering using thumb screws on there saber I highly recommend it. Thumb screws are convienient and add addition detail to the saber. They also decrease the chance of stripping the set screw. The screw size is 8-32 and 3/4 inch. I had to shave down the end a bit, but now it fits great.

Pretty sure he just went to a local hardware store. Thinking of doing this myself for my Epoch.

Great! Thank you for the info on thread size. I really find it annoying having to use an allen key to remove and install the blade/plug since I don't plan on dueling, a thumb screw will do the trick.

I love the ease of thumb screws. I have them on 3 of my 4 sabers. You can get them a your local hardware store, TCSS, and many places online.

I bought mine here:
www.scopestuff.com/ss_scr1.htm
8/32 x 1/4 brass & 8/32 x 3/8 SS

And cut them to length with this :
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000JNNWQ2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1461518639&sr=8-3&p...

Just thread the screws into the 8/32 hole on the wire cutter most of the way in and then squeeze real hard and your screw will be cut.
