Hello!

I received my Exhalted a while ago and really love it. It is my first lightsaber.
I somewhat cleaned it up though so it looked used but not as "black" as it came weathered. I've done the front so far and the handles will stay like this, the pommel I will also try to clean up.

For the front I used some paint remover and that went smooth and easy. But for some reason the pommel isnt affected by this, not in the slightest.
Is there different paint on that part? Anyone has any experience with this? I kinda dont want to sand and polish because I'm not sure I can get it nice again, I also like the way it looks clean but still old and used when I use the paint remover (like the front)

Thanks for any input. :)

Without ever having actually handled one, my only guess would be that maybe the pommel is anodized, rather than painted?

Could be, but why would the back be different then the front?
How does one go about removing anodized stuff? Is that doable on a selected location or will it almost be impossible to just do a part of the saber? (I just want to do the pommel and the smaller part right before it)

My guess would also be that it's anodized, and most likely because the Exhalted is made from two different sabers - top half of a redeemer, bottom half of a Fury, so they're not made in production together. So the painted top half was probably made at one time (also, not sure if its possible to anodize brass... they may have to paint and clear coat most of the thin necks) and the Fury bottom half at another.

To remove anodizing, there's a few ways... my favorite is now... DREMEL. Get a dremel, a fine grit sand paper roll, and it just takes it right off, leaves the metal nice and shiny if you take all the way down, or you can just take off little bits (similar to SF's weathering effects) to your own desire, leaving little bits here and there to give it that used look you crave. The dremel is a nifty little thing... =D

Ok, I did not know that.
I have a dremel, just need to get my hands on a fine grit sandpaper thingie.

Do you think something like this would do the trick?

Or do you think it wont be able to apply enough pressure?

Thanks guys for the input.

I'm not sure, I haven't used one like that.

Looking at that site, I use ones like this one to work on my sabers. :)
