I look forward to seeing your work, and wish you all the inspiration you need with no visitations from the %$£*@$& fairy!

Going to point out that 5-degree lens won't snap into the TCSS lens holder. I *think* they can be glued in, but I've never tried it myself.

The 8.7-degree are usually the go-to for one-up Crees/Rebels in 1" blades and are designed to fit into the TCSS lens holder. From my own research, the lighting's not much different.

If you have trouble with the 5-degree, you can grab a replacement 8.7 with free shipping over at LED-supply:

Yeah, I was aware of that, but Rob in his videos said that it will work with some "monkeying". If I have to glue I will. Or if I have to get the other lens I will. I heard that the lower the angle the better the lighting, and since I'm only using a single Cree LED and using a trans-white thick walled blade, I figured I'd need all the help I can get. Still, I appreciate your advice all the same. :)

TCSS package came in yesterday! It was only missing a set screw. Which is like $0.20 and I don't really need it so I don't care. The service and cooperation was fantastic. I managed to get my 24 gauge wire switched for 26 gauge and swapped out four of the six 1ohm resistors for a variable resistor for the LED switch. Today I just ordered a couple Panasonic 18650 3.7v 3400mah protected rechargeable batteries which should arrive very quickly, then I just need a screw tapping kit for blade retention and covertec wheel screw holes, some solder, and a couple other minute things and I can get started at last!

Here's everything I've acquired so far:

Looks great... what are you using for a chassis?

I'm going to get one of these for this first build. I'll get it from a local hardware store, though. I'll be looking into proper chassis for the next one. Going as bare bones as I can right now.

That looks like it will be a fun build. Excited to see the progress of the build.

So the li-ion batteries I ordered never got shipped. Turns out it was what I was afraid of. They couldn't get passed customs into the country. So, phooey. I've been watching TCSS for ages and finally saw them get (Canadian friendly) li-ion batteries back in stock! So I ordered right away.

Unfortunately (again), Canada Post (which it's shipping with) has been postponing going on strike since July and now they're finally probably going to make it happen. Next week. Just when I order the stuff. Just when it finally restocks. So I'll probably be waiting for a while unless by some miracle they can come to an agreement before the strike date...

My li-ion battery for my lightsaber finally came in! Luckily the Canada Post strike ended up being averted! Just picked it up today! I've got pretty much everything I need now to get started, except for some supplies like solder and whatnot. I do need to find someone with a drillpress to drill the screw holes still, but at least it can be "working."

My wife took this photo of me with my kids and our sabers. She has finally been pushed over the edge and wants one of her own now! (purple) :) :)

I'm excited to announce that this hilt is FINALLY complete! I finally had blade retention screw and covertec wheel screw holes drilled and tapped and now it's duel worthy and wearable on my belt! Maybe down the road I'll experiment with colouring it but for now....I'm feeling quite accomplished and satisfied. And JUST in time for Winnipeg Comicon tomorrow!
