Jet City Saber Guild Raffle Saber - Arbiter with custom shroud
Here's an install I did for the Jet City Saber Guild's Raffle at ECCC 2015. They were going to raffle the saber as a stunt that took 3 AAA batteries, for a whooping 5 minutes of runtime. I couldn't let the winner have that so I offered a Spark Color 2™ install for the winner.
Upon removing the buttons from the hilt I marred up the finish a bit; since I wasn't too happy with the overall look to begin with, and because I wanted to test out my new drill press with XY table for easy straight hole alignment and milling capabilities, I went ahead and designed the custom shroud, cut it with my Dremel, and then used the Drill press to make the holes for the buttons, LEDs, and two securing screws. I then milled out the original switch area to house the new electronics board, and put it all back together. The result is a nice looking saber that is quite functional and easy to handle; I like it so much I might build one for myself later (it has a nice weight for a 1-hander, which is perfect for my blast-a-trooper using a saber in each hand).
Joseph, if you are reading this I hope you enjoy your new saber!
Thanks for looking, Godspeed and MTFBWY!
