TOPIC: Custom "Insurgent" Design - Raptor

Below is a mockup design that I have sent off to the customsabreshop email for a quote.



Inspired by the velociraptors in Jurassic Park.


Visually, it includes:


1. Claw marks on the emitter area which let crystal light come through.

2. Bone etching and colouring/weathering on one side.

3. Stingray style wrap on the grip area near the bottom.

4. Charcoal-black colour scheme, same as the raptor claw.

5. Green-yellow blade colour, same as the raptor eyes.


Sound wise, it includes:


1. Boot Sound: "Because Velociraptor's a pack hunter, you see, he uses coordinated attack patterns and he is out in force today. And he slashes at you with this... ".

2. Ignition: Mix in a high pitched raptor attack shriek.

3. Hum: A standard sith hum, darker, slightly unstable due to the claw marks.

4. Movement: Mix in some snarls and sniffing, hunting behaviour sounds.

5. Clash: Mix in a couple of attack shrieks/cries and hisses.


Hoping that most of these modifications are possible!

Interesting. Is the Insurgent available yet? I didn't think it is at the moment.

The claw marks look unique.

Let us know how much that might cost.

Nah, the Insurgent hasn't been released yet, meaning it may be impossible to quote right now. But the design is awesome. If they can't give you a quote yet, then you'll have plenty of time to fine tune and obsess over it XD At least that's how such things usually go for me.

Ive actually just started to watch the Rebels cartoon to see how Ohsaka Tano holds hers. Lots of google pictures showing her holding them different ways. Cool that she has one long one and one shorter one. Dont think I can afford two lol.

"this is something i would be able to do with a collab of other sabersmiths. for that charcoal black finish i would have the hilts stripped of all anodizing and acid weathered. the inlays would need to be acid etched with that pattern. this i would do through KR sabers. the LED we would use a tri rebel Lime green, for the soundboard we would use a nano biscottie and shameem would create the custom soundfont, you would just send the hilt to him after you had the sabers OR if hes able he can work on it while i build the sabers.

however. we dont have these sabers yet, so once we are listing them for sale we can start on this project and i can start calculating some things."

So, just waiting for them to be on sale and things can get rolling.

I was talking to a new SF employee last night and trying to get some inside info. Apparently some Elite sabers are slated for release here early 2016. But I don't think the Insurgent is any where close... but who knows?
The ones I heard was the Graflex (as its an ASP parts build) so I could guess that will be one. The other 2 I heard are speculative and I would rather not comment on what he told me lol

Well, im glad someone else knows who Nausicaa is! I have every single Ghibli film on blu-ray and Nausicaa is probably my favourite heroine character.

Seeing Rey instantly reminded me of her, and a lot of people online also saw the same.







This has got me wanting to create a specific Nausicaa saber not enough money for all these custom sabers!

Very cool to hear. I felt pretty lucky to get one of the limited releases before those ran out. I can imagine some peoples frustrations for missing this boat. All in do time.

One of them I'm jumping on asap when it gets released. The other I really look forward to seeing how it turns out in comparison to its render.
