That grand master is just beautiful. I will have to save so that I can afford the staff with all the fancy scroll work.

Obi-Scrooge Kenobi  Good one; well played, sir.

The more I see that Satele etched staff, the more the itch grows of getting one myself. However, while acid etching is gorgeous, doesn't that weaken the metal?

It's one of those "technically yes, practically no" deals. As long as the acid's properly cleaned off (if acid was even used) aluminum oxdizes very quickly. Unlike rust, aluminum oxide is a durable substance that strongly adheres to and protects the underlying metal, so the hilt won't corrode any further. Only real danger would be removing too much metal and making the walls too thin to maintain structural integrity - but the small amount removed in a detail etch like above shouldn't cause any problems.

Damn, that reverse acid etching looks gorgeous! Almost want to see if (somewhere very far off in the future :P ) it might be possible to do a custom GM staff with one hilt being normal etched and the other having the inverse as you have - just because both look amazing!

Congrats on another fine addition, sir, I really love that you share it all with us; not only is it magnificent to stare at, but it gives us fellows also ideas on how to customize for in the future :woohoo:

Def achievable. There'd be a strong contrast when coupled together though but may still work....

Basically taking half from each and going for a Light/Dark Fusion with etch-type...

or same etch-type (standard positive) with variation in pattern and doing a Black Chromed paired to a Nickel plated.. ;)
