How do you like the completed hilt?
Are you going to write up a review?

The hilt is Amazing. A few sharp edges that are easily remedied, but expected. Plan to modify slightly for crystal chamber. Work in progress but won't be finished for some time,maybe next spring. Excited for the challenge that awaits. I will post updates as I progress.

Hi =Ottomatix=,

That's one beautifully crafted lightsaber you have there. I really love that powder coating on the chassis ribs, the colour combination just screams royalty and elegance.
Do you plan to cut out the panel here (see pic) for the crystal chamber? I think that would look epic.

Kind regards,

For Tyeth

Thanks.! Credit to Justin his work just my idea. You are close in your thinking. My idea was to cut out sub hilt on the other side below the 4 ribs. Alot of design aspects to consider.

I see, I have been blown away and educated by some of the work and ideas on this site (and Justin's stellar behind the scenes work). I look forward to your future updates and profile pics! (There must be a lot of military air power influences in your neck of the woods! P-38 Lightnings, B-24, etc)

Kind regards,

Yes big fan of the old WWII aircraft and the mystique of that generation. Here's a closeup for you.

Ah ok . I've got it. Shattered weathering to reveal crystal chamber. Impact damage with anodized scorching.? Maybe someday.

Any customising progress with your CR Archon and did placement eventuate successfully with the '4 rib' section on topside to accommodate it? Based on your last post, have you opted for a Heavy Shattered weathering instead where the CR sneaks out from a blaster shot/saber slash strike point?

I've been doing some PVC mock-ups, and have a pretty good idea of what I want. Unfortunately I dont have the courage to tear into this hilt. I will post some mock- up shots of the effect I' ve decided on tomorrow.

Asked Justin the other day about this type of finish. Not for the entire hilt but at the emitter shroud and impact sight. Sort of tempered or overheated discoloration.

Interesting concept. Would never had thought it. I dare say Justin could do it. I imagine the application to be a spontaneous and random powder-coat with transparent colour combinations. In appearance it resembles the burnt colouring and techno colouring on car exhaust tips. If it works on stainless steel can't think why the same wouldn't work for T6061 Aluminium. Very Cool. *insert thumbs-up here*

Justin called it Neochrome. Sort of like titanium finish on knives or crystals, and yes like exhaust tips you got it. I've seen some anodizing videos with multi colors dips. Sort of like dying Easter eggs. Different color each dip but the effect wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

Hey =Ottomatix=

Got another question for you regarding your Archon. Thinking about pulling the trigger on a standard finish one.

The black-filled accent lines on yours. Was this a request fulfilled and accommodated by SF (much like how the Epoch is filled on the DT finish) before Justin took over to do the brass PC?

Hey =Ottomatix=

Hoping you will share some insight and feedback on this Hilt of yours.
I look at it often and the more I do it increasingly becomes a 'must-get' than a 'might-get'. With trying to understand the construction (and or assembly) of this hilt, I will conclude that the body itself is still 1.5" in diameter.

The forward shroud, does the switch box (other than as a greeblie) double as the securing point of this shroud (to the brassed part) as well with the two set screws?
Can the switch box be removed separate to the shroud itself or is it permanently secured? And say I was to either request it be deleted or upon removing myself, what secures this piece over the brassed part?

Much the same for the Covertech wheel. Am trying to understand that if the request is made to delete the CT and the SB am I left with the holes where they'd usually be or if it would be solid.

The filled accent lines. From your understanding, how is this achieved?
If I tried to emulate this, would you have any suggestions?

The SB is used to secure the upper shroud, and CT holds the bottom. There are pre drilled holes at the fastener points. Final construction might involve other process, maybe glued not certain though. The black was sprayed on the lower shroud then sanded off to reveal inlay.
