Bane "Mk 2" This is our second generation Bane. Every single part has been re designed from the ground up. Its hard to decide where to start so I will start at the top of the saber and work my way down. Assembly The second generation Bane uses the same system of assembly we pioneered with our Vanquish curved saber. Collars on either end of the curved section provide a rock solid assembly and reduce the seam gap seen on the first generation Bane. This also allows the use of ASP style pommels. Claw The new claw features 8 finger grooves *vs 5 on the original* that are chamfered buttery smooth for a superb two handed grip. The new claw also features milled details throughout its length, terminating in gorgeous thru slots near the emitter and capped by a more aggressive and pronounced hook. Emitter The generation 2 emitter has three blade windows that light up and an easy to access blade retention set screw instead of the side button head style on our original Bane. Also the emitter no longer has a seam line and is one solid piece. Emitter Shroud We dramatically increased the thickness of the second generation Bane emitter shrouds to increase their durability and we added a deep chamfer all the way around to make this extremely aggressive looking saber deceptively comfortable and ergonomic. Body The new body section feature milled oval slots that are more comfortable and visually appealing. Pommel In addition to being ASP compatible the new pommel has also been upgraded aesthetically with a more aggressive profile and slotted milled windows. Sorry for the essay, just really happy with how it turned out. |

Thanks KelbornX. I've always liked the Bane, and that 2.0 is just awesome looking. That side-by-side with the 1.0 is really nice.

I really like the new emitter and shroud section. Not sure about the finger grove though...hope it's comfortable to hold. The only way to find out is to get one.

According to Phil's description, the surfaces are now chamfered for your dueling comfort! Even the traditionally sharp edge on the emitter has had that treatment, so they will be much safer, in addition to much more attractive. That is a win-win right there!

Hi all,
Food preparation with a lightsaber isn't a new thing check out how Trillian does things... Back to the Bane 2.0, I'm not sold on the position of the set screw for the shroud but I guess it can't be positioned between the two vertical accent lines anymore as the LED module would be in the way, other than that it's a nice hilt. The new Bane in my opinion is sleek and be light side or dark. What I do like about the original weathered Bane is its thicker, I like the lower ribbed section... it just looks ancient and pure dark side. Planning on getting both.

Giger quality that Shameem so famously coined when he did an install on the old Bane with Alien soundfont - something about those circles on the handle made it seem more xenomorph.So I was afraid that (it is on my wishlist... and yes, so many hilts are ) that I might have to default to the old Bane if I ever wanted to add it to my collection.So when changing that exterior aspect in the 2.0, I was curious, but seeing this photo, I can definitely say the 2.0 is an improvement of the entire package; the pommel, the claw, the grip - just the entire hilt looks way more sleeker and badass than before! Now I can breathe easily and just see whenever I buy the Bane in weathered config later down the line

Thomas Snyder says that this version more closely resembles his original design for the Bane than did the original release. The only major difference now is the fact that the MK2 can accommodate two hands, where his original design was intended for one handed combat.

I don't normally go for weathered hilts, but I love the way they do the weathering on the Bane. I had one all set up last night. Weathered finish. 37" blade. Blood Orange LED. Crimson sound font. The only thing I was missing was the money to pay for it, so I couldn't add it to the cart. |
