I'm not sure if it's a new feature or not, but the saber builder now allows adding multiples of the same type of part with a coupler between. Like, for a single saber instead of a staff. For example, let's say you wanted a Gladius but wanted holes for four buttons instead of two:

This would allow room for a primary button, aux button, charge port, and a speaker kill switch. And it's only slightly longer than a stock Gladius hilt.

FWIW, the middle section is a black katana switch, standard "female 2" coupler, and standard sorcerer switch. At the new shopsaberparts.com site, the parts for this empty hilt come to a total of $175.94. (or $200.90 after adding 2 momentary lit switches, 1 unlit latching switch, and a charge port)
This is not the post you're looking for.

Not. ;)

However you may be the first with the publicly commented intention to use all four holes to accommodate the Recharge and Speaker Kill. Previous iterations of the second Switch has been done to create either greater aesthetics or extend the physical length of the Hilt. I read this reference of yours in another Topic and must say am quite interested with the (eventual) completed look and your Review on the function.

Oh, I mostly just wanted to put the idea out there. If I make one, it won't be for a while and won't be this design. It's more that my partner wants a sound upgrade, and doing so will require extra switch holes, so we might try to go for a 4-button setup on her existing hilt. It will be, um, long. Or maybe just get a third hole drilled into existing parts.

The Gladius shown above was just a test case I used to see if a short 4-button saber could be made, and ideally be as close as possible to a model I already like. I don't even know if the spacing inside would work, like if there's enough room in the handle section.

The last few days I've been messing around on SaberParts site building a virtual saber.  I think I've landed on this one, which I have tentatively named "Dawn".  It's a mix of Redeemer, Epoch and Dissident.  I like the redeemer switch as it hides the buttons.  I'm planning to get the plug 'n play soundcards and then add in a kill switch myself.  It's just the simplest way to go for me :)

http://www.saberparts.com/#/configure?code=4.111.1.0-3.88.1.23-9.170.1.0-2.69.1.0-1.15.1.0-7.152.17.0-6.149.3.0-5.144.0.0-8.153.0.0

A different variant has the Redeemer switch at the bottom of the hilt above the pommel with an extra coupler to join the pommel.  A 3rd variant is to change the Redeemer switch to a Reliant switch.  This exposes the buttons, but I like the activation box and further like the sleek look of having it at the bottom.

To many choices :)  Let me know your thoughts on what you think is better ;).  Also thinking to either go Amber or Indigo.

I'm gonna say Amber over Indigo. As for the design, have you thought about using Reborn Switch to mirror the greeblie fascination that's featured on Redeemer Box's side? The grip tabs would provide well.. better grip and if the configuration sees it up top rather down low like the latter designs, it would be less of an obstruction too whilst still promoting the sleek element.

Thanks for your feedback OvrcAHst. I looked at that switch as part of one of my iterations. It's a nice switch, but I guess I'm favouring a control box or sorts. I feel it lends itself to the OT and adds a little something extra to make the Saber unique.

Haven't thought of a good name for this one, open to suggestions. Also would see if I could get a custom Edo wrap on the hilt instead of just the standard brown leather.

Fallen Pommel in standard
Reliant Body in black
Fallen Switch in standard
Redeemer Emitter 1 in black

Hilt length is 13.5"

My vote: Lord Hoth.
It looks like an Old Republic saber worthy of a Jedi war hero. I just don't see a Sith using a thin-neck, they would see it as being delicate and projecting an image of weakness. (Regardless of how aesthetically pleasing they are.)

There actually have been dark side thin necks appearing in canon, in the Lando comic series. I didn't thing they gave the impression of delicacy, at least no more than Sidious' own opulent sabers, but that's an interesting perspective. I can certainly imagine an individual Sith or Dark side user having that mind set.

Yeah, I designed it as a Jedi saber, so your assessment isn't too far off. Despite my user name and profile pic, I lean more towards the Jedi/light side than the Sith.

I thought of calling it the Defender since Jedi are sworn to protect and fight for those who cannot defend themselves.

Ok, I was just playing around with some ideas, and these were the result.

First up is just a random experiment in sleekness: Untitled

Next, from the Old Old Republic, before Ruusan, before the Jedi withdrew from the politics of the Republic: The Supreme Chancellor

Up next are two versions of a design that stemmed from the realization that some of the parts had similar details and I wanted to see what they'd look like together, I like it; the name comes the fact that I used the Katana pommel: Ninjato.

For some reason "Lantern's Light" is the only name I can think of for this one....

I like how the inverted gladius switch makes a nice choke point just below the emitter.

Here it is ! I ordered everything to build my very own lightsaber.
It should look like this, but with some custom weathering, genuine vintage leather.
I wanted something original, like if this lightsaber was made of lost and found parts from all around the galaxy. Nothing too fancy, I wanted it to be the lightsaber of a poor, abandoned and hopeless jedi.

Can't wait to build it and wave it !

May the freak be with you.
